It has to be considered a glitch, so if you got caught doing it, you would most likely be reported for Bug Abuse. However, it is a pretty legit method.

yeah it's a pretty shitty glitch, you have to stand outside the bank, in one of those places where people attack each other with a protected item

You wont get banned for it. I didnt & i've been doing it for a long time now.
