How to use/setup Ventrilo

Ventrilo 3.0.0 is the next evolutionary step of Voice over IP (VoIP) group communications software. Ventrilo is also the industry standard by which all others measure themselves as they attempt to imitate its features. ​

By offering surround sound positioning and special sound effects on a per user, per channel, per server or global configuration level the program provides each user the option to fully customize exactly how they wish to hear sounds from other users or events. ​

Ventrilo is best known for it's superior sound quality and minimal use of CPU resources so as not to interfere with day to day operations of the computer or during online game competitions. It is also preferred for the simple user interface that any first time computer user can very quickly learn because the most commonly used features are immediately visible and can be activated with a single click of the mouse. ​

Basically , In a Nutshell - People buy 'servers' which can hold 'x' amount of people. You then fill in the 'server' infomation to your ventrilo client, which connects you to the 'server' where you are able to talk to people all over the world via mic.​

Ventrilo is good to contact overseas family for free ( You can just scab a server from somewhere ), talk to friends on holiday, or even have a buisness conferance. Ventrilo caters to a veriety of groups meet most peoples needs.​

--> How do I download Ventrilo?​

Below , I have some links - Depending on your operating system.​

Windows i386 - 32bit - Win2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, Windows 7 (Version 3.0.5)​

Windows x64 - 64bit (Version 3.0.5)​

Windows 9x - 95/98/ME (Version 3.0.5)​

Mac OSX 10.4 or higher - 32bit (Version 3.0.7)​

Linux - Sorry Guys , This is currently in development.​

--> Now What?​

Clicking on the the links should open the ventrilo site where you will see this.
Click "I Agree"​

After Clicking "I Agree , You should then have something that looks like this pop up on your screen. Click "Run" or "Save" Depending if you want to save the Download.​

After Download / Running it You should get the following Boxes.​

Either Follow the Pictures of this.​

For those of you that don't like following picutres. Heres what to do...​

Click Next on the first Box
Click "I Agree" and click Next on Second
Fill in Required infomation , Then click Next on third
Click Next on forth ( or browse for a folder to locate Ventrilo )
Then Click finish. Now you are Done and ventrilo is installed.​

Step-by-step pictures​

After Following these steps your at now ready top open ventrilo.
Click the 'ventrilo' icon on your desktop and you should come to a screen like this. This is where you are going to add in the infomation to connet to a 'server'​

You then go ahead and click where the red rectangle is , to make a user name
Click the red rectangles and fill in your usename you wish to use then click 'ok'​

Cogratultions! You have now made a 'ventrilo' User.
Now its time to add a server!​

You will now click the red rectangle in the picture again , and you should come to a menu like the below picture.​

Click 'New' then name your server what you want to. Followed by clicking 'Ok'​

Now to add your Server details. You should have a Hostname / Ip and a Port Number ( For those that already know a server​

Don't worry about default channel. That can be changed later if need be.​

To add the details follow these next steps​

Heres an example of what one may look like​

Congratulations! you have just added a 'server' and can now talk!​

To connect to the server simply press the connect button.​

Now you in your seclected Ventrilo server!​

Now , Some of you may ask - How do I talk ? Well click Setup , And you should come to a menu like this​

To set a 'Hotkey' ( Button you use to talk with ) Simple click in the yellow box with you mouse , then click the key you wish to use for talk.​

Now To make your Mic louder , Drag the outbound bar higher , and to make other peoples mics louder - drag inbound bar higher - In the red Box​
