Frustration, anger, and lots of pretty things

Feel free to ask for any other background information. I've got nothing to hide, I just need help..

I made a simular thread to this on the 21st April, but nothing has changed since then and I desperately need help.

I often feel random frustration and anger, for no reason at all. I will sit here, minding my own buisness, and then suddenly feel extremely annoyed and generally pissed off. Anyone who tries to talk to me will either be ignored or shooed away.

I don't really like people. People tend to annoy me and get on my nerves. I'd much rather be on my own. I see all the negative sides to people, which makes me hate the human race more and more as my life goes on.

My daily routine is pretty basic and repetitive.
I get up at 6am every morning, have a shower and do my paper round
I arrive home and play my computer for half an hour
I then get dressed, pack my bag and go to school
I come home from school, play my computer for the rest of the day, only getting up to go to the bathroom or to get something to eat or drink.

Congratulations, you just lived a day in the life of me. Exciting, wasn't it? No. I thought not.

    A bit of background:
My mother is currently on anti-depression tablets. My dad always used to get pretty angry at stupid things, which caused my parents to argue alot. They are now living in seperate homes. I still see him as he's only a 20 minute drive away, but only once every 1-2 weeks.

My brother, who is now 16, has always been the one who I think has ruined my family. He is the one who used to be a (Censored) to my parents, which would then cause them to argue amongst themselves. This certainly didn't help my parents relationship, and with a younger brother (who is now 6), it just made things even harder.

He still argues, swears and shouts at my mum. He is very loud and obnoxious, and cares about no one other than himself. I also find him very selfish, not to mention almost everything he says is a lie. He will lie, and be persistant with the lie, even when he has been caught out, or the truth is obvious.

As I type this, all I can hear is the low hum of my computer fan, and my brother in the other room shouting down the microphone whilst playing the Xbox. He clearly has no respect for anyone else and is a vile human being.

    What should I do?
Times are tough right now and there seems to be no way out. I'm trapped in what seems to be an eternal cycle of misery. Every day is the same, and every day is horrible. School bores me, friends are not really an issue. I have a group of 7-8 friends, although I don't really value them all that much. I'm a very independant person and for the most part like to be left alone.

So this is my cry for help, my request for your best advice. What do I do? Do I see a doctor and seek some kind of medical help to get me through this, until I can move out and get on with my life? Do I talk to my family, show them how I feel?

I really don't know what to do..

It seems like you need to find a hobby other than a computer. You need to find something you enjoy doing and stick with it, who knows maybe the key to your anger is your boredom.
    What do you enjoy doing?

Also, your day is similar to a lot of people, life is monotonous, with the odd splash of spontaneity, but other than that, the same thing day in and day out. C'est la vie.

Find new hobbies. The computer isn't really healthy.

    You'll be fine.

hey- take up a sport. An easy one..even if you're benched you'll get away from the comp and enjoy it.

The only thing I really enjoy is playing the computer  Going out is sometimes fun, too, but not as fun as the computer in my opinion.

I don't know. Maybe the computer is taking over my life, maybe the computer is my life.

I'm not too sure about this, but I guess I'll have a look and let you know how it goes

Eh, you sound like my mum >_< ^_^

Sport has never really been my thing. Well, I played football on and off for a few years, and badminton for about a year, but I've always been a quitter. One day I wont feel like going to practice and I'll end up quitting the sport and continuing with my computer-dominated life.

Note: I do enjoy reading. I tend to read for an hour or two before I go to sleep, I suppose you could call that a hobby, but again, the computer seems to be funner >_<

Note2: Money is also a bit of a struggle right now. I know I shouldn't be worrying about our wealth as I'm still so young, but it does worry/bother me quite a bit >_<

Well, I just took the 'Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) Scale' quiz/test/survey.

Your anxiety score is between 11 and 15:
A score which shows you have significant anxiety symptoms which are affecting your life. You may find modules in the Living Life to the Full course helpful, however we would also advise that you discuss this score with your doctor if you find that you feel distressed much of the time. You may especially find that using the Anxiety Control Training module is helpful.

Your depression score is between 8 and 10:
A high normal score. This is still within the healthy range however you may well benefit from using the Living Life to the Full training modules to help improve how you feel. If you feel worse in future please re-rate your mood and consider seeing your General Practitioner.

You can't allow yourself to be judged and psychoanalyzed by an online test.

NOT happening unless you want stupid and illegitimate results.

Sports was just an idea, btw. Find an activity outside of the computer. Your mom is right. She has an outsiders opinion on someone she talks to and sees everyday - remember that.

Hah, your life is pretty similar to mine (without your family). I doubt finding a new hobby will help you... Although you could do something new... Try programming, for example. You can apply as a game developer in the future and I'm sure you'll love it since you like using computers. And about your family, you should just mind them... 'till you're old enough to earn your own livin'. Worry about your little brother. What'll happen to him if you fail? Your brother doesn't sound like a dependable person.

    Good luck.

Yeah do, I used to be a really anxious person and I went to see a doctor about it, asked me all the usual questions, and then referred me to that website. It helped me out a lot because then I realised it wasn't just me. There's plenty of explanation on there and exercises which can be very useful. Some of the tapes on there are really relaxing. I hope it helps you like it did me.

I tried programming before (Java, to be more specific), but I couldn't even do the very basics, and I got easily frustrated and annoyed with it (as I tend to do). I hope to move out of home fairly early, I'll probably end education after college, although University will be considered.

    -

Today I did laps around the rugby pitch and lifted a few weights in the weights gym in P.E. I then did some more laps at lunch time.

I feel a bit better about myself now, knowing that I'm actually making an effort to improve my physical health. So yeah, I'm in a pretty good mood at the moment, although the chances are in a few hours i'll be back to my 'normal self'

Ah, well then I think you know what to do. Anytime you feel down, go for a jog, or a walk. Even joining a gym may be a good idea. You must do what makes you feel good.

I dunno. I'll look into it. Maybe what they say is true, that exercise and doing things other than playing the computer makes you feel good. It shouldn't work, but it does.. Strange.

Yeah it does indeed. You should maybe set yourself some goals as well, like so many laps per day, or gradual increase in weight during your weight training? Something to set your sights on :) I'm really glad you're feeling positive :)

Joining a gym or involving yourself in some kind of program to improve your physical health will almost definitely help your mental health also. It will give you something to aim at, you will see your physical performance improving, if you stick to it.
You really do need a hobby away from the computer, if you ask me. Sports are always an option, and there are more than just the usual ones too, you could always try a more original sport, such as water sports, snow boarding etc.
    Good luck.

This doesn't always work. I tried to get involved with swimming and jogging to combat my depression, and whilst I enjoyed them, it did fuck all for my mental health.

Thanks for trying to help me out here. I've got P.E tomorrow and the athletics track is open Monday, Thursday and Friday so I'll probably go down there at lunch aswel.

I read somewhere that the best thing to do when running is to do 45 seconds of jogging and then 30 seconds of full-on sprint. Repeat this 3 times then rest. It's apparently very good for your fitness, so that's what I'm going ot try and do.

I'm going to speak to a few friends and see if they would be interested in joining a gym with me. Treadmills are kind of out of the question though, the last time I used one of them I fell off and ended up with an infected knee. Not pretty.

Also, I live in the UK so anything like snow boarding/skiing/the kind of sports that I'm actually interested in are out of the question >_<

    Worth a try, I guess.

This sounds very depressing.. I suggest you talk about this with a Therapist.. Talking to a Therapist doesn't make you a Pussy or a Faggot. Don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, best hopes for you man.

A very suitable name for the occasion ;)

Thanks, but I'm not sure I want to make too much of a fuss about it. Today has been an alright day. I did a whole lot of exercising again, perhaps too much this time. My foot really hurts, as does my knee. I guess there is such thing as too much exercise :noworry:

I'll take the advice that someone gave earlier in the thread, if I have one of my 'moments', I'll go for a walk up my road and back again or something. Things are starting to look brighter
