New Soccer Rule.

Although I despise watching soccer, as it is the World Cup I have been tuning in to a couple of games. In soocer, one of the most disappointing results (unless you're from New Zealand) is a draw. You spend 90 minutes to watch the game, both teams play defensive and it's boring to watch.

What I propose, if the final score is a draw then the team who scored the first goal should get 2 points instead of 1 in the competition ladder. This would make the game much more aggressive in the early stages of the matches and throughout. Incase you didn't know:
You get 3 points for a win
1 point for a draw (in current rules)
0 points for a loss.

 

I don't understand how people find it fun to watch them kick a ball around, and literally no scoring for 90 minutes.

You must be watching American Soccer/MLS. That league blows; try the English Premier League or La Liga.

In the World Cup, or at the least the knockout stages, you need to have wins/losses AND draws. It determines if you get to advance or not. There are 4 teams in each group, and the 2 highest with the most points advances. 3 for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss. Without the tie, it'd be possible to choose who advances or not.

And the first goal of a match means nothing in the World Cup.

 

Lol, nobody watches MLS, not even Americans. Even in quality leagues, they still don't score as often as in American sports.

I ask myself the same question daily, even though I still find watching football somewhat entertaining. And I honestly don't know why.

 

American sports? Baseball? You sit at a stadium for 3-4 hours and watch them 'try' to swing and hit a ball but they miss. This goes on until someone gets lucky and makes the score 1-0. It's totally boring.

And you can't compare another sport to soccer. You can't compare American football, a sport where a score can be 49-0, to a game of soccer.

If you were a TRUE soccer fan, you'd realize how fun it is to watch soccer for the whole 90 minutes. It's not all about scoring you know..

 

I would like this because it is boring watching for 90 even 100 minutes in some cases with extra time to just have a 1-1 draw.

 

The average team in baseball scores about 5 runs a game. Some games can get up 15 points. Even if it is a low scoring game it's due to good pitching. Which is still fun to watch.

Lacrosse is probably as close as you can get to soccer.

I'm not a soccer fan. Only time I watch is when the USA plays every four years in the World Cup.

 

Soccer is very fun to watch, same as hockey. Baseball is a game of mostly luck whenever someoen hits a small ball coming at them at speeds of 95-110 m.p.h. Football I have never really found entertaining because, well idk why.

Soccer is about foot/eye co-ordination, and timing. I love to the tricks people do to get the ball around the opposing team. I always watch soccer all 90 minutes. and overtime if that happens.

Hockey is just an aggressive sport, which I love to watch blood fly while people claim it to be for the sport of the game.

Lol, you don't know anything about Baseball. You can count how many people in the world can throw 100 MPH on your fingers. Nobody has ever been clocked to pitch above 104 MPH, Strasburg was clocked at 102. Pitchs can range from 66-104 MPH. A Baseball is the hardest ball to hit in the world. They can curve, cut, and sink.

 

This would be pathetic as if a team scores first, then they are just going to play defensibly, to secure the win....

Stupid trying to make rules for a game you clearly know nothing about, Tell me a game where both teams haven't tried to create chances.. and I'll give you believe you have even watched a full game of football..

 

who said anything about baseball? i dont know anythign about it and i dont want to, as u can go back to the first post of this thread and re read it you will find it is about adding a very fucking terrible rule to football, again no mention of baseball

I don't find Soccer entertaining in the least bit, just as I don't find Baseball, or American Football fun to watch either. I enjoy BodyBuilding, and I find a persons physice interesting. Nobody HAS to like soccer, just like nobody HAS to like baseball. We're allowed to like what we want.

I love how you throw out that Americans are trash, maybe not in general, but in sports. Why don't you bring your highschool soccer team, and go play the Americans? Don't speak such shit unless you're sure it's not shit, nice idea to label ALL Americans.

Also, in America we call it Soccer, the OP is American, hence why he said Soccer. We don't have to call it Football, just like you don't have to call it Soccer.

 

What effect will society have from you proposing this? I doubt FIFA is filing through Runescape cheating sites for suggestions for a new rule.
