My computer mouse was moving by itself a few hours ago, I recently was attacked by a rat/bot and I thought I got rid of it. I ran my AVG computer virus scanner and it found nothing. Can this be, just the mouse acting up, or is my scanner not picking up on the virus?

Well the best way to find out is to leave you computer overnight with it place on a button, if it moves when you wake it means you are still infected. Also Avg isn't the best anti virus that is probably the reason if you have a virus it won't pick it up.

I had an issue like this once when my mouse was broken... If you have a spare, try using that one and see if the problem still persists. If it doesn't, then it means you don't have the virus and something's up with your mouse. If it does, then you should get a new anti-virus like BitDefender, ESET, Norton, etc. Personally, I use Kaspersky and it's quite good.

Good luck on getting rid of it.

Make sure you're using your mouse on a flat surface. Preferably a mousepad.

If you have a analog mouse (one with the ball) you should remove the ball and clean out any hair that may have accumulated inside of your mouse.

Unplug your mouse and plug it back in. I've had a mouse act up because there was a bad connection to the mouse port.

You probably still have the RAT

Download this and run a full system scan, while your disconnected to the internet.

If you fear the person that infected you will erase your operating system whilst downloading the installer, download the installer on another computer and put it on a memory stick and install it whilst offline.
