    High Value Staking

Recently, a fellow Sythe member made this thread.
To summarize it, it bassically takes the idea of staking in Runescape to how it use to be. His idea states like staking an Red H'ween for another Red H'ween, but having someone such as an OMM hold the items until the fight is over. A "MM" would be needed because of the staking limits Jagex has set.

The thread has gained a lot of popularity in the few days along with a lot of feedback on it. People went as far as suggesting a sub-forum for this, if it were to become popular.

If such a sub-forum would consist of basically a list of trusted item holders..(Like OMM list) and what the forum would be for. As for the people that are "this is a stupid subforum, this wouldn't be used at all, etc." look at the Aion and the WoW forums. They are DEAD.

I simply made this because after seeing comments on such a forum, seeing the popularity, and myself thinking this is a good idea.

    Post your views please :).

I was actually considering PMing you and Feren about starting something like this up in other services section. I think it would be a fun idea, not sure if it deserves its own forum though. I would be willing to do it for free, provided that both members have all details of their stake before contacting, then basically all the MM would need to do is hold the items of value from each party, then give the winner of the stake the items.

Only issue would be how would the MM know who is the winner?

This sounds like a very good idea. All MM's would need 500+ MIL to hold multiple rares though.

With MM's I believe this is possible.

Essentially he is saying that 2 users would agree to stake. Most rares in RS have a IRL value set with them. Say for example, the 2 members agree to "stake" red masks, which are around $25. Each member gives the MM their red mask, then the duel. The winner of the duel will win the ability to buy both of the red masks from the MM, and basically win the $25 item for trade price.

So you are not literally staking the items, you are using the street value vs trade value difference to "stake" things. It could even go so high as to stake thing worth hundreds, such as half wines, hats, etc.

It's a great idea, but a forum is needed as we wouldn't want thousand of thread looking for a stake in the runescape cheating section.

    Thanks for feedback so far..
@Owain: Yes, I can see r/l being implemented in this too. People do this for Xbox all the time. 15$ on a 1v1 game.

@Nate: Hmm, perhaps we can start it up I'd as well be happy to do it for free. Also, to know the winner, we can have them either Hypercam it, or we can watch the duel. It's not hard to go on top of stands and watch.

@Firez: Yes, the MM's would need A LOT of money. 500 Mil for Phats, but a lot of the rares have yet to become that expensive. Dual MM's could even be used.. I have well over 500mil, but my problem is; they are split between like 4 accounts.

Ahhhhh, i thought something completely different haha,so if you win you buy the rares from the MM? So your just winning a chance to buy the items since there hard to buy on the street. Love the idea. :)

I'll likely make a thread for paypal money. Would exclude summoning and prayer levels to keep things fair.

what section would this go under? I'd potentially be willing to start it immediately.

I have roughly 550m on an account, so could handle all edible stakes and lower rares. You know know who I bet might be interested in doing this as well though who has billions?

    *waits for Spyike*

Either way, its doable, and I think it would be alot of fun.
Yes, you basically win the right to buy the bought out item/rare for trade price, so you are staking in RS, and you will be winning IRL value as well as RS value.

Middlemen should also witness the fight. I don't plan on using one so i'm not going to stake over 10$ at a time.

I like the idea for RS items, but I would not be willing to do this for paypal or anything. Too easy for people to take advantage of the MM and reverse their charges afterwords, leaving the MM the one who has to pay for it. RS items there is no risk for either party to get scammed.

Would be easier if the MM just says before the duel some sort of secret phrase or term or something, the the winner after winning the duel, takes a screenshot of the after duel screen, with the secret phrase in the chat box.

You just need to have enough RSGP to hold the items at stake..I don't think staking Paypal USD would be a good idea either.
