I'm interested to hear your opinions. Do you think the relentless persecution of those in possession of child pornography is a useful tool in stopping it's production, or does the creation of a taboo only 'invite it's own violation'?

A side note, after half an hour of searching I could only find paid versions of the original article, so here I have provided a speech by the author and a summary of the text.

I personally believe that the more of these people caught with child pornography caught, the better. I think that this is a good deterrent to both those producing it and possessing it, but of course the flip side is, it could just lead to them creating more secretive methods of production or acquisition which are difficult for law enforcement agencies to uncover. Also, I believe that no matter how many times in the news we see a crack-down on paedophilia, these paedophiles will keep doing what they're doing, it is a problem.

Is someone who views child pornography really dangerous to society? We don't judge people who watch adult pornography as rapists.

Hmm, well, just like the people who view adult pornography sites, some may pose a danger to society. I believe any type of porn dehumanises the people portrayed in pictures and videos, thus the people viewing them tend to recede into a state of mind where these aren't real people, and could then escalate to a view whereby everyone in the world is a potential puppet to them for sexual gratification, that is when a true threat is posed.

i think all those caught/involved in child pornography should be executed or at the very least castrated and made an example of that scum like this is not accepted, and yes i would happily do it free for them

I think for me it depends on the degree of severity in the content. I feel if it looks/is consent, then the holders shouldnt be prosecuted, but if its something like rape, I feel they should

They assume they are dangerous because they lust over young children. People who watch pornography and child pornography are the same in my eyes what ever you do in the privacy of your home shouldn't be anyone else's business. Of course if people want it or watch it, it will be produced why should this be an issue unless the children are abducted, drugged ect.

@Gogotron what is so unacceptable about people wanting to view child pornography why should you worry about it.

Honestly what are you going on about here?

People who view any kind of pornography knows these aren't real people and made up actors to fulfill sexual desire of the viewer. The world will never be a ''puppet'' for sexual gratification because not every deems porn good some simply see it as degrading and disgusting.

    what the fuck...??

CHILD pornography involves a child, it is not the same as normal hetro porn where it is done by consent of the 2 parties, child porn is exploiting young human beings who have no idea between right and wrong along with the ability to judge if it is morally acceptable to them

the mere fact u even said that like wtf are you a pedo?

Maybe because people who watch these things have a fantasy of having sex with <9 year old kids. Letting them watch child porn isn't going to help them get ride of these fantasy's it might even make it worse, which might result in children getting raped etc, etc.

What proof do you have they states child porn is exploiting human beings who have no idea between right and wrong. You don't know if it's morally accepted to them because you don't know them.

Just because i stated the stance you assume i'm a pedo? your a joke
You because said letting people watch child porn will make it worst and in the result of raping children ect. So what about just hetro pornography?

if your gonna make a point at least see it from both angles you have a biased opinion.

I was merely stating that some of the people who view porn, see the acts carried out and feel this could be okay in everyday life, a warped sense of sexuality. Just like how murderers escalate from torturing/killing animals, the porn SOME view escalates to more violent/taboo-like, in order to achieve the gratification no longer achieved from more softcore versions, until eventually, they must carry out the deed themselves, they become unhinged.

I don't feel that it is farfetched Finn, as, for example,
In many ways, things escalated as the pornography he viewed too over, he no longer achieved the same gratification from the same pornography and so he advanced, until finally, the real world outside of illicit images became a target for him.

    Furthermore:
So, it appears that viewing porn, including child pornography, can lead to more disturbing things.

Thus, my view still remains, the more people caught with child pornography and sentenced, the better. And this isn't an attack on paedophiles, anyone who views any porn, should be dealt with, not as harshly as where paedophiles are concerned though, as the porn they view contains children who in my opinion, are incapable of making an informed decision, and are being exploited. That is why we have child protection laws, this is not ok, no matter what the sexuality of a person is.

The claims made in this thread are completely absurd.

You think people should be sentenced to death just because of their sexual preference? I find you more disgusting than the material itself.

Death is a big thing. You can't just wipe people off the face of the earth, who have caused no harm, simply because you don't agree with what they are viewing. If they do escalate the fetish to something more serious, noteably rape, then yes, I do believe something should be done about that. I believe that the rape of a child should result in the same punishment as that of a rape of an adult.

Just because someone likes to watch that of which is a little different to your taste, does not mean they should be sentenced to death. If said viewers cause no harm and do not have a negative impact on anyone elses life, other than their arrogance, I don't see any problem.

If you are asking why there are laws against child pornography, it's the same reason why when an 18 year old has sex with her 16 year old boyfriend it is considered rape, no matter what the circumstances. Children (U18) cannot give someone the legal right to do something, so they are considered to be filmed "against their will". Also, a consulting company that my father used to work for did an analysis of predators and 80% of people who watch child porn have wanted to stalk or rape a child or have already done so. This law is there for a very good reason, and people who masturbate to child porn are very strange.

Wanting to interfere with children is not a natural sexual urge, it's the product of a disturbed mind. It's the type of problem that needs to be treated, not legitimized. You might as well be saying that psychopathy should be embraced and encouraged.

People don't just want to reduce child abuse, people want to stop it. To do that you need to remove the conditions for it to happen. So, completely outlaw the market for it and imprison/treat paedophiles.

This is where the law is flawed, lets say a boy is 14 and a girl is 13. They are together for 4 years, the boy is now 18 and the girl is now 17. They have had sex many times, but now the girl has fallen out with the boy and has decided to claim that he has raped her. She will be backed up in any way possible, just because he is one year older, regardless of the fact that it was in fact her choice.

If both persons want to do it genuinely, and not just for the money, I don't really see a problem there. It's their life, it's not for other people to control.

Whether you admit it or not, most of us, at some point in their life, will get the urge to have sex with someone, even if it is against their own will. It is something we cannot control, and most people just shrug it off and resist the urge, others don't. I think rapists in general are more of a problem than child rapists, they are alot more common, and just because they are a child does not make it any worse.

That must be the worst sterotype I have ever heard.

Unless extreme measures at taken, the industry will never be completely wiped out. This is mostly due to 'corrupt' countries, noteably the Asian area.

    Child Pornography (Paedophilia)

Society's view on child pornography is interesting. Not four centuries ago, it was almost normal to have a child (that is, a person under the age of 18) that was pregnant. Now, it's considered one of the highest social sins.

Naturally, this all depends on one's viewpoint. In my humble opinion, the act of two people, both under the age of 18, having sexual intercourse is fine so long as both are willing to do so under their own consent. I think this simply because sexuality is a very natural temptation that modern society has suppressed and coerced into thinking that it should be completely private.

This isn't to say that a 30-year-old man should be allowed to sexually abuse a 12-year-old boy just because the 12-year-old said he was fine with it. I think that that is unacceptable and, simply put, weird.

Of course, what I mentioned is in regards to sexual intercourse between two individuals under the age of 18. This debate is on child pornography, which is the recording or visual display of two individuals under the age of 18 undergoing sexual intercourse.

In my humble opinion, child pornography itself is a terrible, terrible thing. Sexuality in general is beautiful. Pornography is not.
