Here is what i think, altough im like super low ranked and whatever
-Fees for certain people, if i was one i wouldnt take a fee
-Rank, only for a quick view, like if you were someone and someone posted on your guide saying ill varify right now, you wont have to find the thread saying they are they have the rank..
and it should be admin picked

I don't really agree with charging for a verification.

So what were getting at is a mod, preferably a global, reccommends you to be an official guide verifier. You then must fill out an application in order to be accepted.

    Anything else?

This would be a pretty good idea, would speed up the process but the official list of people would need to communicate with each other or have a hidden thread for only official people and mods to view. So they what guides have been verified and not. I would do it for free but I doubt I will be choosen :D

I understand what you mean about the 'fairness',but still..you know I mean it's like community service you shouldn't really get any materialistic benefit from it.
As for the vouches, no, I don't think that should be required in the application.
And "people who have sold guides here in the past", no ..just no.
I still think their should be an application, but I don't exactly know what should be in it in my opinion.
If I ever come across an idea of what should be put in.. I'll post it.

    yeah no fee I think.
That would just encourage everyone to go to the mods again to verify.

No rank or no fee is a must in my opinion.
Do it because you want to help selflessly, or don't do it at all.

If the idea is useless it wouldn't take that long to realise, surely. And for the people who do play runescape the prospect of free guides would surely outweigh to chance of duds.

Using vouches as currency is ridiculous, the staff know it more than anyone. To take your example though, plznate would seem like an excellent choice, since he is familiar with the market and is now an OMM.

There aren't just duds to worry about. There are a bunch of other things you must take into consideration when verifying a guide.

If the guide was stolen from someone else, if the guide is common knowledge ( this does not mean that everyone would know it already mind you, just that it is well known and therefor not worthy of being sold), if it has already been given out for free, etc etc etc

    Vouches mean jack.

Ok, when I was a mod of the guide I verified about 1 in 50 was decent, 30 out of the 50 were all the same and the rest were either agaisnt the rules so poorly laid out I couldn't understand it or just useless.

Another thought is that like OMM, Official Verifiers can set there own charges.

I still think there should be an application process.

Vouches have at least some meaning, would you rather trade with someone with 25000 feedback on ebay or with someone with 4 feedback?

However, that's not the issue here. A guide verifier should have the following aspects to their 'Résumee'

    • At least one thousand posts; it shows dedication
    • At least 9 months of active Sythe membership
    • A decently-levelled account on runescape
    • UE rank would be an advantage
    • Being a previous guide seller would be an advantage
    • A recommendation from an existing verifier or moderator would be a very nice addition

Although I may be slightly biased having achieved most of these ;).

On the issue of charges, the guide seller may choose to 'tip' the verifier if he wishes. Personally the simple component of knowing the guide would be an adequate payment.

You people are way over complicating this. We trust staff members to verify guides, and you don't need to have an application to be a staff member. I'm still sticking with the staff members decide who is a verifier.

This is nothing, but a cheap excuse for a rank/position on Sythe, theres no need for it. I do not see why any mod or an OMM can verify a guide? and if they don't want to they can reply with a "sorry ask another mod". Better then having a bunch of air heads trying to make them selfs feel important by verifying guides.

Properly verifying a guide might take an hour or more to do. It also requires a runescape account with decent stats, which not many staff have.

Next time you post, try reading through the previous opinions. Half-decent grammar helps too.

Um. At the moment only staff members can verify guides and very few of us do. Thus we need to get some normal users to be able to verify guides.

Not all OMMs can verify guides so just saying they all can is kinda pointless.

Not all "guides" are runescape related, and if the guide needs a high leveled account maybe then they can ask a another member for "assistance" on helping them verify a guide for another member, and as for grammar? WHO GIVES A @#$@

I'd say 95% percent of guides are at least partly runescape related. Besides, the money-making guides are always a cradle of shit; why are you selling the guide if you can make the money yourself?

Most mods have other things to do than go around and search for members with high-levelled accounts. They're doing the guide-seller a favour, after all.

If you don't post with correct grammar, it gives off a vibe of immaturity and it makes it hard to fully understand your point of view.

They don't need to search around for another member they can just simply PM the member with a list of people who they think is capable of having their "guide" verified which is nothing but a simple copy and paste either then that I don't see why this has to be made so "official" and i don't give a @#$# about my grammar don't like it? don't read my post.

this can be solved by creating a "do not PM list" for mods/OMMs who do not wish to verify guides, and by creating a list of mods/OMMs that do want to verify guides, then a separate list "if" the mods/OMMS are busy you can have you guide verified by another member thats capable of doing so, not just because he/she is best friends with a global... but because he/she knows what they're doing
