Windows or Linux VPS?
Windows is a better host system, Linux is more serverish. I recommend you get a Linux VPS. I know a lot about computers an I can honestly say that Windows VPS require a lot more Ram, and are FAR expensiver than Linux.

I bought one ten dollar one to test it around a week ago. Cent OS x86/x32. Although I may not respond due to inactivity, feel free to PM me if you decide to set up the Linux Server.

Linux > Windows in terms of speed and memory usage. Linux is also cheaper.

Because Windows costs money to use, when you buy a VPS with Windows you are more buying the Operating System than you are the VPS itself. Linux, being cheaper, therefore is the better product in regards to the money aspect.

Windows also loves to take up your memory, as someone mentioned, so you can run more bots on a Linux Server.

I think your brother had said that about Linux because he was not used to it when he did try it. It's a huge switch going from Windows to Linux. Linux is more command/terminal based with less User Interface for everyone. Windows is more user friendly. It's easy to pick up the commands needed to start up your bots, though. Basic ones are used.

At the moment, after I saw the one 10 dollar one worked, I bought a second 10 dollar one. One is running a AutoWoodcutter + AutoSoulWars; and the other one is running an AutoMiner in the Rock Caverns and an AutoWoodcutter. According to the terminal, it is running at around 70-90% CPU. I might be able to run one more bot on each, but it would be pushing it.

Definately Linux, less lag, bots run better.
Ive had both and will not move from Linux.
Burst.net #2 will run 2-3 bots depending on which bot. But obv higher package for more bots . Pm for more help setting linux up, happy to help or do it for ya

 

Let me know how long that lasts you before it's gone. VPS are always different, but they are worth the money

I think that even the crappiest VPS's can handle at least two bots. Could be wrong.

And as far as i know a VPS with 512mb of ram can run 1-2 accounts
1gb ram can do 2-3
1.5gb ram can do 3-5
2gb ram can do 5-7
3gb ram can do 8-10
so on so on...

I bought the 1gb ram package from www.burst.net and i run 2 accounts easily.

 

By the way if your looking at the guide I provided firstly its not 100% functioning guide as I was told by ChippZ0r. And as stated in the guide I suggest you buy a linux OS VPS.

 

I disagree I ran my bots for 24h straight, you must of had some kinda issues. Burst.net has great customer support.

 

I bought 2 package deal #2's from Burst.net...loved them...Chipz0r on these forums is actually an employee from burst.net so you can contact him and he can help you. He is one of the most friendly guys I know.

 

Set my bot up today running 1 SW and 1 GDK runs fine, little jittery but doesnt effect the bots.

 

The $19.95 a month one works fine for botting 2 accounts at once. This thread helped a lot for beginners who dunno anything about vps servers.

The $19.95 can run 5 bots at the same time. Be sure to do the folowing if your running multiple accounts or updating your client:

 

Here a few use full tips Chippz0r told me:

When reinstalling for update:
1.Select Linux GTK 32 bit
2.Right click run-linux.sh and open it with a text editor
3.At the top you see java Xmx1000m, change 1000 to 150(for 3 bots)472(for 1 bot)-lower for more bots then save.

^(Step 3 above only applys for my $9.95 package) I'm unsure about other packages. But even still I suggest you change it other wise you will be using almost all the available ram to run the bot client.

Once you do that when you go and try to run-linux.sh it wil open text editor again, you don't want that.

Go to your terminal type 'cd /root/Desktop/bot' then type 'sh run-linux.sh' that should start your client up. (be sure to type it exactly how it is given)

You guys are probably allowing the bot run at max Xmx, don't.
