If anyone here is one, are there any tips you can give to make it easier to become one?
I know the general friendliness, and playtime, and reporting and whatnot, but do moderator nominations help? and if so, would P-Mods usually do that for another person?

best thing to do is be community focused... reporting really is not how they choose mods anymore (although an occasional report is helpful for serious offenses). in addition join a clan chat with player mods as well as other players (maybe a j-mods clan chat). talk and always be positive and helpful towards other people... these will help you become a mod

Basically, just kiss A LOT of ass. You can become a Player Moderator via another Player Moderators referral.

Also, follow what "Runescape_Mod" stated in the above post.

    Alright thanks guys :D
Like I said though, is acquiring a referral easy enough? or would you assume hard to come by.

Am I correct in assuming that the people wanting him to add their MSN are going to try to sell him a P-Mod referral?

Would be interesting if they were.

Not to hijack the thread, but if the above is true, then please PM me as I would be very willing to pay for a refferal.

On topic, I have also heard that it is quite random how they select, and that some players receive an invite randomly after being inactive?

That is true. Som people are getting invitations random and didn't even get a P-Mod refferal. It's based on luck, activity and your reporting.

One would be not to be on these forums. This is a cheating forum. Jagex don't want their moderators to visit cheating forums that promote the use of bots.

What's stopping player moderators from visiting cheating forums, Jagex couldn't check their computer activity, surely, as this is an invasion of their privacy. But valid point I suppose, most mods wouldn't visit these sites simply out of common decency and expectations.

They must be lying when they accepted the ToS then :p
If I'm not mistaken, all Jagex employees aren't allowed to view this website. I know Jagex can't check what websites their employees visit.

Currently I have two pmods and one fmod. My long history as a mod leads me to believe that pmods are a random selection based upon account security, forum activity, playing well with others and luck. In the old days there is proof that who you knew had an impact in selection, however these days I do not see this as a factor unless you’re connected to a jmod. Now I have personally seen/known player(s) who were selected that participated in numerous runescape events which jmods attended. Now as for fmod, this IMO is driven totally by being very active in forums with solid input. Everyone I've seen/know as an fmod had a solid history of activity in the forums as well as the other typical traits commonly expected of a pmod. Lastly I would add that if you’re truly a focused runescape player, being a moderator has impacts. I find myself constantly not able to comment and/or participate in conversations due to the impact of the crown appearing. Just my two-cents.

2-3%? So you are saying for every 100 people you see, 2 or 3 of them are player moderators?

Your statistics are clearly flawed.. Perhaps 0.2-0.3% would be a little more accurate.

OT: I believe forum commitment and activity helps alot.

No, because that would be taking a sample of 100 players, he is basing his statistics on the entire population of RuneScape.
