    Ability to Hide Threads.

This is mainly for Runescape related threads. Often people 'leak' guides etc, and anyone can view them. There should be an option to hide threads so that only sythe.org members can view it. But the hide thread option could be used in a number of scenario's, for example if you were writing about something personal in that personal assistance section or whatever its called, then you might want to have the ability to hide your thread so that no random people can see it.

    What do you think?

    **EDIT**
    Great idea by Jimmy:

This kinda of falls under "Removing guest access", or what ever.

Yeah, pretty much what I tried getting implemented on sythe a long time ago.
Threads only being accessible to those who are registered, but was shut down.
    This won't happen anytime soon.

In my opinion, the owner of the guides should chose weather the person is trustworthy to enter the thread or now.

Most people can't be bothered to make an account, despite how long it takes.

Maybe options could be implemented such as 'only allow users with 25+ posts, 50+ posts, 100+ posts' etc.

Also, even if it means other people have to make an account to access it, doesn't that mean the chances of them staying on sythe is increased, therefore increasing the revenue that this site makes? And would also be better for the community having more members.

Now you're suggesting the "Post count required to view" DNS lol.

Eh for what it's worth, I support. But this ain't ever gonna happen. Pen told me in no uncertain terms.

If anything, I think it is time for a veteran section.. This section would only be accessed by members that have been granted based upon the date of their account.

I don't think the date should be the only requirement. There are other people who created accounts in '05 with only a few posts. I think overall contribution to Sythe should be looked at.

I guess the point I make is that the older the account, the less of a chance a member wishes to lose his account.

No support, sorry. Sometimes I get on Sythe just to view a few threads without logging in and I hate typing in my username and password.

And about what Spyike suggested... That sounds similar to a VIP section.

I like your idea of a veteran only area. But, i don't agree with it being based purely on join date either. For example, even though i have a 2008 join date, i've been viewing sythe since 06'. Maybe it should go on some kind of join date/post count ratio? Maybe like join date of 2005 = 1000 posts to enter, 2006 = 2000 posts to enter, 2007 = 3000 posts to enter etc. Or something of that nature?

I have my account always logged in.
But, you kind of prove the point i'm making. You can't be bothered typing in your username and password, that means there will be a percentage of people can't be bothered to actually make an account to view the threads.

Would stop the trolls, but I doubt it will happen. I think it's a good idea, for example if you wish to hide it from leechers.
About this VIP section, it sounds good but I think that your ideas of requirements aren't reasonable. Join date should not come into it, many users are extreamly inactive, but also have very old accounts. There are some members that have not been on the site for a very long time, but in the time that they has, they have brought a lot to the
community. Also, posts for this sort of forum should not be a requiremet, anyone can obtain high post count, it's about making the posts contributional that matters.
I suggest that either a 'Veteran' rank or something similar be added as a requirement to acess the forum. Either this or they should be manually selected.

I like this idea. You could have it hidden and allow only certain people to see it. Eg. Someone buys a guide and you let them view it. Also i like to store pictures of my completed services as proof would be a good place to store.

Making threads hidden will only decrease activity, especially if you put a post count requirement, which is why they are on the DNS list.

No, on the DNS list, it says do not suggest only registered users can see the forum. I am not suggesting that. I'm suggesting only registered users can see specific threads. I just want a simple option that says 'hide thread', i doubt many people will even press the option, apart from when they feel it is required, such as when they want to share a guide, but only with sythe members.
