Capture Video

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but does anyone know a good (and FREE) program for taking videos of a user-defined section of the screen (i.e. a decent screen capture program)? For making RS/FunOrb vids and the like.

 

Hypercam or Camtasia.

Both aren't supposed to be free but you can download versions without all the stupid bullshit in the background while recording.

 

Hypercam is perfectly fine for recording as long as you don't expect very high quality video. The video file can be easily imported into Windows Movie Maker and simple effects can then be added. The only price tag is the little 'Un-registered Hypercam' sign in the top-right of the video.

 

imo camtasia studio is amazing for screen-cap (but it isn't free)

you can use hypercam, but the video quality isn't the best.

Hypercam is best for your situation, i had to mess with the compression and calibrate and tweak a few things to improve the quality though. Overall thats your best free bet.

 

Hypercam works for me, but i'm not sure if the paid version is any better.

Mh, just google it, unless you pay for it though you'll get a white box at the top of the recording saying "Unregistered Hypercam".

If you get the HyperCam tool bar and launch HyperCam from your web browser, then the 'Unregistered Hypercam 2' box at the top doesn't appear.
