How to make your computer faster [Pictures]

This is Login, This is my first guide and I'm showing how to make your computer faster

First thing you can use is
Disk Defragmenter:


You should click 'Defragment Now' Every week

What it Does:
Disk Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files on your computers hard disk to improve system performance, Basically deletes duplicate files and sorts your computer out


Disk Cleanup:
I normally select all files from all users on this computer


Choose 'C' drive because thats the main one so it will help your computer more



What it Does:
Disk clean up only cleans out temporary files and cookies for the most part. Wipes out history.Frees up space. It ask before it deletes something so if its gone you deleted it. It doesn't bother important files and programs though.


This is the end product, it lets you select what you want to delete to free up space

Fairly good guide, you need to explain how to get to each of these features though.

Also, Ccleaner is better than the windows disk cleanup, it does essentially the same thing but also deals with registry and some third party programs.

Hmm this guide is quite good. You should format it to make it better though. Colour the text, bold the titles, make the titles bigger, change the font. Stuff like that

Make one of these for a cloud operating system? I do not have Windows.

I have a Windows computer, I just want you to search how to clean up a Cloud operating system. =], you will be stuck for ages.

Great guide, but like the first guy said, you need to add how to get to all those features. For those people who do not know a lot about computers.

A few thoughts on just general computer speed I thought would be useful for this topic:

The registry doesn't slow you down. More RAM doesn't make your computer faster.

Defragging your hard drive really doesn't help all that much because you only ever use your hard drive for loading the programs into your RAM. Once the OS loads the program from your hard drive into your RAM your hard drive speed doesn't help you. Basically it only improves initial loading speeds.

Get a SSD (solid state drive) they have the fastest loading times and they aren't like normal hard drives. They don't use spinning disk media like traditional hard drives do thus they cost a lot more but the performance increases are definitely worth it.

Get a processor from this century
Core i5s that have 4 cores
Core i7s that have 4 cores
Core i7s that have 6 cores

Get the best RAM you can for your motherboard

That's how you make your computer fast. No amount of software can make your computer magically run noticeably faster if your computer just flat out sucks.

The format in which it is is a little lousy, you could brighten things up, or even add more things, as these WILL improve your computer, not dramatically but still, you should add other things like editing Virtual RAM, setting priorities on your main applications, adding real RAM, use a Solid state drive SSD, hyper threading enabled (if supported), divide your drives for faster searching and loading, make sure your using the best OS for your motherboard, making sure your using a good BIOS and a fairly nice processor.

As for Supah Fly's statement above, I disagree.

I built a shit pc for my little sis from my spare parts and it is fast enough.

Windows XP Professional 32-Bit
Pentium 4 2.4GHz
500mb RAM
NVidia MX4000

I've even used her PC I made to do a Firecape, no problems whatsoever, good speed, no lags etc.

Here's a huge tip for y'all, If your computer is slow, format it, and use windows XP!

It works efficiently, FAST, and I prefer it than windows 7 and vista due to the speed, and Yes i'm using Vista, and I have 7 on laptop, if your computers slow, format it to xp, and I guarantee you your computers performance will DRAMATICALLY increase, hell, im even planning a downgrade back to xp soon.

 

Even though I knew all of this still a nice tutorial for those who don't have a clue.

Might wanna tell them how to get the programs from their start menus though.

 

I suggest you to add some good anti-viruses: Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, AVG, ...

 

run a full scan with malwarebytes->restart your pc->enjoy it running super fast
