Is it still possible to play legit on Runescape and be successful? By playing legit i mean no bots, no buying gold or accounts or anything of that sort. And I know everyone has a different view of a successful play but usually, I think, people try to get some sort of rare and then consider themselves rich or a top player. So, with the inflation of rares, all the bots, the annoying grinds and all of that crap in they way to making it to your goal, do you still think that if a player started playing say today, would they be able to make it to the top?

Personally i say no, its the reason i quit Runescape.

If they started today, no, i dont think they would have a chance to make it to the top, how would some1 get 2bil xp? even if they did, by the time they did, gert would have 10b xp

Veteran players have a clear advantage then players starting now do.

remember how easy it was to make money in rs1? there would literally be rares lying on the floor, and no trade limit? that made it so easy to profit, merchanting back in the day was amazing money

I disagree with what you said about only be able to b a top player from cheating, if u bot ur prolly jus gonna get banned, and u can make it to the top from being legit, just have to make smart investments, i know i said u cant come close to 2bil xp, but u still can come up with couple hundred mil cash, get some 99s, but i still believe being on the highscores is out of reach for a player starting today(excluding dungeoneering)

Yeh, the veterans do have a huge advantage since they have a lot of there cash from rs1, but i didn't say you can only be a top player through cheating, i mean people cheat to get a good start, like gold buyers usually buy the gold as a sort of investment or the future to make more gold. But yeh i see your point.

 

I've always botted to get where i need to be via Runescape, due note this is not on my main because its 100% legit. Anyway even if you did play legit it will take you years among years of catching up to the high-scores and another note on most skills the minimum is around 40-60 to even b ranked on the high-scores.

 

Playing legit? and be successful? not in real life, you will have to spend countless hours, playing...

You'll be less active thus gaining unnecessary weight.

Also, its a waste of time, you can do more stuff, than spending 5 hours a day playing RuneScape, you can bot on it instead...

Dont expect to be #1, 2, 3, 4 or even 10 if you join now... because those guys are extremely rich and addicts and they can get mora than a million xp per day if they want

Botting is the way to go, it's how I play.. I can't even play RS legit anymore, and barely in general.

Playing legit is only fun if you have alot of time.

 

I think the amount of people botting on their main accounts is higher than ever before. There were probably more suicided accounts back before the trade limits and everything but the percentage of actual players botting these days is probably higher than before.

I'd say it's hard for them to be successful meaning high ranked on the highscores and hundreds of mills while playing 100% legit for the reasons stated in my post and in previous posts.

 

Million xp in a day is easy for anyone, people like zarfot and gertjaars can get 5m xp in a day if they really want.

 

Depends how much time you have, how long you can pplay in a day, and most of all; if your a good runescape player. What i mean by good, is maybe experienced? Have good knowledge of locations, the grand exchange, prices etc. Most people have 'Main' accounts these days, so there is a slight knowledge.

I'd like to think its still possible to get to the top, whatever level you are, but lets just get it straight, The top 100 players, get atleast 1-2M xp a day. At combat 3, you'd struggle with 100k in a day. Therefore, by the time your 10M xp, the top 100, could be atleat 100M ahead.

Its always nice to try, but in reality its not going to happen in Runescape, 2010, with all the botters and gold buying resources...

 

I really doubt it. I've had my account since like 2004-2005 and I have really nooby levels. Of course, I did quit for like 4 years.

 

I don't think someone making an account today couldn't get to the top without botting.

They could still be successful though (as in alot of 99's with alot of money) in not long at all.

 

Yeh its a lot easier to get 99s then to have a lot of cash or rares now due to the inflation. Getting rares for the newbies must be extremely difficult.
