Let's say person A reports a post in the skill training section of the market.
The post goes something like this: "Good luck, free bump". The post was NOT posted by the OP, but by another member, looking to get his post count up.
So person A reports it and a mod says "I'll let it slide".

So basically, what I'm trying to say is, why are we reporting if the mod in question knows that it's against the rules, but lets it go?

In all my time on Sythe, I have never seen this happen. If it wasn't infractable, then I understand. But this is infractable. Correct me if I am wrong.

    Jesus.

First time offender? Maybe it was like a warning?

    Does it matter?

If the user has a ton of similar posts and has clearly been postcount spamming, then an infraction is necessary. If they're new, it was the first such post, and they have never been infracted for it before, I see nothing wrong with a moderator PM'ing them a warning instead, although they are by no means obligated to. (Some mods, especially newer ones, can be shy to issue infractions at first, given how unreasonably pissed off it makes some users.) The point of the infraction system isn't to issue as many temp bans as possible: it's to get people to pay attention to and follow the rules. If that can be done with a PM instead of an infraction, then it's just as effective.

If, by contrast, the mod chose not to infract simply because the report regarded a friend of theirs, then there is a problem.

Hmm it was probably what I should have done. I'm sorry, venom.

Thank you Sin. Sorry, I didn't really understand how things worked. I'm glad you explained :)

No one could say it any better.

I do not understand why everyone is so obsessed with infractions. They really are not a big deal.
