The Internet's Best Websites

Well, I was thinking of starting a website for this, listing all of my favorite sites with the most utility, and such. This list is to be composed of websites that are useful, but might not be as commonly known as websites like Google or YouTube.

If you have an idea for an addition to the list, post it with a brief summary of the site and why you find it useful. (No sites that break Sythe rules, please. Self-promotion will not be tolerated. Let's make this list useful!) They'll be in no particular order, listed below.


1. SparkNotes - A website with just about everything for people wishing to learn HighSchool - College related material.

2. MIT OCW - MIT's Open Courseware is very useful for just about everyone. You can find lectures on a wide variety of subjects, and prepare yourself for testing out of multiple college courses.

3. Guerrilla Marketing - This website provides several articles with useful information about the best sales techniques with proven results.

4. W3Schools - This website has helped many learn various scripting languages for internet applications.

5. TED - Video talks featuring the smartest minds in today's world presenting some of the newest, greatest ideas in a wide variety of incredibly interesting topics.


(Sites that teach something useful that most people don't know much about, or can be applied it a variety of scenarios are usually the best for this list)

 

I think this is a great idea! I'll try to find some educational sites.

Documentingreality.com - A website with reality. Lots of photos and videos unedited. Seen something on the news bad happen? Look for the unedited info hear. Also government leaked information is also here. Beware though.. images are graphic.

 

The utility of Documentingreality is kinda low, and you have to really search for the videos, rather than easy, casual browsing.

It's also a forum, but I'll let other people decide if they like it or not. Just my personal opinion for now .

 

Wikipedia, google.

Wikipedia? You'd be surprised how many people don't use it.

And the Simple English wikipedia is quite helpful when talking to young children/creationists.

bodybuilding.com - has everything, reviews, articles, routines, etc. Even has forums, absolutely everything you want to know about working out, is on that site.

 

urbandictionary.com if you want to look up a slang word that you're not quite sure the meaning of.

 

http://dictionary.reference.com/ A good, helpful online dictionary, makes a lot of things quicker and simpler.

http://thesaurus.reference.com/ Another utility made by Dictionary.com, also very helpful if looking for online word alternitives.

http://www.kerboodle.com/ An amazing online-revision site, it's helped me ever so much, and I've only used it for a single course. (My D&T Resistant Materials Exam)

http://fukung.net/ Provides me with giggles.
