    How to establish a reputation?

I've sold one account here all read to a member named Choma, who vouched for me, but it seems as if selling anything here is very difficult. I've had numerous people who want to buy my account, and when I go to add them and discuss it, they simply don't respond to me and ignore me and say I will "probably" scam them... I am willing to use a MM for all my trades, but yet no one trusts me?

What can I do to establish a reputation?

Vouches and Post count are an obsession here. Sell pins/guides to gain vouches and always use a middleman if the other user will not go first. Also, it's a good idea to have a signature, and avatar and to donate a little to the site so you appear committed.

If someone refuses to use a middleman, it is they who should not be trusted. If you're still desperate to 'gather trust', just sell memberships. It's a lot quicker and easier to use a (preferably official) middleman however.

    This.

In my opinion, PIN vouches don't have much value. They're simply $3-$4 trades. It all depends on how much you've been trusted with, and on the customer feedbacks on your trades.

    How to establish a reputation?

I understand your situation. I had a similar thread when I joined. What I did to establish my reputation, I purchased ME FIRST from extremely trusted people, (R2pleasent) and others, such as plznate, and others who have lots and lots of vouches.

Another tip- One thing I did was donate, at first at the 25 rank. People know im not going to scam them for a pin, or a cheap account by doing so.

Ahh.. Who does not remember being new and asking the same question. My advice is to understand the risk you present compared to the proven veterans that have been around Sythe.

    1. You're a new member attempting to "sell" an account.. Think about the odds of it being recovered. Selling an account based upon your history here will be tough. You're a target for a scammer IMO.

    2. Developing a rep takes time and if that is your intent, focus on purchases/trades with members that have the rep you wish to gain/respect. Items may be your best approach to get started. Go Slow!

    3. People are victims of habit. Habits are something I look at in detail and something I feel is largely overlooked. I review everything you've posted and determine what your base of experience/trust seems to be concerning the business you are attempting to conduct. I google the hell out of any email/msn you've ever used. Take the time to understand who you're about to deal with.

    4. Remember this above all. Trust can also be gained by the knowledge and posts you make/express. Sythe is much more than just a site to buy and sell; do not under estimate what having friends can do for you. Get to know the members and watch for the valuable lessons to be learned. Scammers here a good, but easy to spot after you spend some time learning what to look for.

    5. Never conduct business in msn no matter who a person may say he is or how good the offer may sound. Now some may disagree, however I use msn only to establish who the person is I'm dealing with and only after I've insured he is the same person tied to the Sythe account he represents. Private Messages are the Key, never trade without exchanging a few first!

In closing, How about I give you my impression... You show up out of nowhere and post an account sell like a veteran. Pictures are perfect and text layout gives me the impression you've been here before. Your msn has zero history which leads me to believe you just made it. You are looking for a quick sell and doing your best to get anyone to bite.... What do you think I see? I honestly would not trade with you based on what I see.

    How to establish a reputation?

I'm actually glad this was posted because I'm looking to make a couple 99 starters to sell in the future and also need a little credibility. Definitely already planned to donate my first 99 wc starter profits to the site anyway so I guess I'm somewhat in the door lol :D

    How to establish a reputation?

I think Spyike hit it spot on.

I would begin by establishing yourself as a presence outside of the market section. Post in some of the other sections, make yourself known as a helpful and friendly guy. Go ahead and do some trades, but always use a middleman. Avoid selling accounts for now, as people will be reluctant to purchase without a good reputation here.

One good way that people start out is by offering free skilling. It was how I began on the site as well, it doesnt take too much effort, and as long as you dont try to scam anyone, you can start to slowly gain a rep.

Just try and be active around the site, and it will come with time. Best wishes.

Private messages are key to confirming that you're talking to the correct person, but if a scam were to occur it's going to be hard to prove it.

Well, post a lot, offer some low-level MM services or something like that and slowly get more vouches.

You think that you're cool cause you donated? OP, don't listen to this fool.

Postcount, avatar, and signature have no relevance to your popularity. That's more for the market, but I wouldn't advise you trusting anybody in the market for these reasons. Just talk to people and get to know people better. Don't just add all of the mods and suck up, then you'll be hated. Be yourself, stick up for what you want.

    How to establish a reputation?

    What gohan said.

Fitting into any society requires just making friends. How to do that is the age old question.

Recall that a forum is just an online conversation, and this conversation develops into an online society.

Establishing market reputation, however, is somewhat different however it is a similar basis. Building trust with your clients and sales is what matters here, and having friends and reputation within the site is what can help you build this trust. Keep plugging away at it and you will see that it will come eventually. Unless you are a scammer, however.

Just be yourself. Don't kiss ass to staff, don't force trades you don't want to do for vouches, et cetera. If you're patient, you can become well-known in only 2 years :)
