Computer specs

I am looking to buy a computer, solely for the purpose of running multiple bots on. I dont plan on doing anything on there except that. For anyone who has done similar, or is computer smart, what would be some good specifications for a computer for my needs? If the computer could run 5+ bots at at time with no problems, I would be a happy man. Thanks

 

Can I please ask your budget? The bigger your budget, the better computer you can get.

 

Nate, idk anything about bots. Tell me how much resources a bot consumes and we can go from there

 

A) Budget?
B) How much resources does each bot consume?
C) Which Windows will you be using?
D) Low detail or high detail RS?

 

OS doesn't really matter as it will be 7 most likely, and all bots should be ran on low detail anyway.

For your needs you could probably get something for a few hundred dollars. A 2.93Ghz+ dual core processor, 2GB+ RAM and a something like a Geforce 8800GT would probably do the trick. I've never tried botting with many accounts though.

Try doing it on your current computer, then post your specs and how much RAM and CPU% java was using.

 

I run 5 bots (rsbots.net) flawlessly on a $400 budget build.

AMD Athlon II X4 620, Overclocked 3.25Ghz
ATI Radeon 1650x Pro 512MB
ASRock M3A770DE Mobo
4GB DDR3 1600 RAM

All that will probably be cheaper by now (I built in January) and I got a fairly decent case to go with it all for $400 so yeah. I'd recommend upgrading the video card though (I will eventually) because truthfully it's pretty shitty. I could probably overclock my CPU a lot higher if I had better cooling as well. I've heard of people getting them close to 4.0Ghz.

There is really no need for overclocking anymore. You can get just as fast of a processor for the same price without messing with that stuff.

But yeah, his computer specs will run that easy, but video option are a bit limited. Luckily most bots run in safe mode anyway.

 

I disagree. I saved $40 on my processor as opposed to going for the processor that was already clocked at 3.2Ghz and the only thing I lack because of it is an L3 Cache. Overclocking will always be useful, you get more for your money that way and it doesn't really effect the life-cycle of the product that I've noticed (then again, I don't do massive overclocks like some people do)

 

Actually, OS's do matter. Later versions of windows require more RAM to run the OS by itself not including bots. If you are running 5+ bots at once, go for a 2.2ghz single core or 1.5ghz dual core processor with 4gb DDR2 ram. Make sure you have the motherboard to handle to RAM's speed, many people make that mistake. All ram has a specific speed to run with the motherboard, if it's too less it won't start up, if it's too fast it can overclock. So read the motherboard's manual before installing the RAM to make sure you have the correct amount. I'd personally go with Windows XP Pro as it's the most stable OS from windows, or if you go with Linux, you can easily run 5 bots with 2gb ram 1.5ghz dual core.
