    Ugh, here we go again..

Can you please not make up statistics like that? 98%? Where did you get that from? Did you survey everyone who has ever botted and asked them their opinion? I think not.

    Try using phrases such as:
    - The majority of people..
    - Most people..
    - A high percentage of people..

    You get the idea >_<

    If there were no bots?

Yes sorry, I was just about to edit my post and reply to it. I hadn't refreshed the page so I hadn't seen your post yet. Here's what I was going to say:

That is indeed true. I have been playing runescape for 6 years now, and I've definetly done my fair share of by-hand work. With 50M cash, 3 level 99s and combat level 116, i'd like to think that I have achieved a fair amount in this game.

I can relate to this also, as I said above I have been playing runescape for 6 years, and started playing WoW just over 3 years ago. I recently quit WoW after levelling 3 level 80s, and being able to kill the Lich King with ease (With the help of my guild, of course). I suppose I quit because that feeling of achievement was lost. Knowing that you can easily kill the hardest boss in the game kind of ruins that insentive, that determination you feel when you really want to get something done.

When we think about it, everything is repetitive and boring. But it doesn't always seem like that at the time. If you reflect back on everything you have done, I can guarentee that the majority of it would now be seen as pointless, however at the time there was a point, it was a way of entertaining yourself, a way to pass time.

As for appreciating the game, I think this appreciation will gradually fade away on it's own, bots or no bots. Eventually, after you know the whole game from top to toe, you feel as there is nothing left to do, nowhere else to explore, no more quests to be completed, no more money to be made.

    Sorry, I rambled a bit here >_<

EDIT: Just saw this post, too.

As a matter of fact, I think me and Xbit are the only two actually having a constructive discussion. You don't really seem to know what your talking about, not to mention your posts are pretty boring and are poorly constructed.

I'm probably contributing more to this thread than you are, If you wish me to leave this thread and let it die, I'll gladly do so.

    If there were no bots?

Assuming you buy it from a gold supplier such as gold4rs, usfine etc. surely it would take just as long for them to farm it? Might aswel buy a decent bot and 24/7 it ^_^

    If there were no bots?

99% of skill-obtained items would be insanely expensive.

    If there were no bots?

Please refer to my other post.. People who make up statistics without any evidence what-so-ever backing them up really wind me up.

Please re-think your post or atleast read the thread..

    If there were no bots?

Jagex, can stop bots anytime, but they wont because jagex relies on bots.
OT: prices of resources would be insanly high if there were no bots. (ex. lobs, ores etc).

    If there were no bots?

The majority of the community wouldn't exist, and the prices ingame would be skyhigh.

    If there were no bots?

It's my opinion that Runescape would be better without bots. Obviously if there were no bots, prices in raw items would go up, but that is just more reason for the tons of skillers out there to go collect them and gain mass profit. I don't mind the bots that are out there right now though, just for the plain fact that they keep the items I buy regularly low.

    If there were no bots?

Well, I'm guessing the game would be a lot less popular, JaGex would be a far smaller company making a far smaller profit, everything would become a lot more expensive. 99's would be far more scarce, and skill capes would be a far more coveted item.

I think that Runescape would pretty much go down the toilet. I mean, bots bring in all the neccesary items that people need, and keep prices fairly low and stable. Without them, everything would be more expensive, and many people would quit. It generally takes hours to make 1m now, and if whips (for example) started to cost say, 8m, people would just quit.

On the other hand, a game without bots could be beneficial. Seeing as a lot of people would quit due to previously mentioned reasons, you would be left with a small amount of dedicated hardcore players. This could help improve the community throughout the game. What kind of 10 year old kid is going to want to spend hours working for at item which isn't really that amazing anyway that they could get in maybe, 2 hours of playing when bots were present?

    If there were no bots?

In conclusion, regardless of whether or not bots are beneficial to the community, Jagex would not be able to stop bots even if they tried. Bots will never die out, unless they resort to extreme, ridiculous measures that will scare away most current players anyway.

    If there were no bots?

As everyone has already said, jagex needs bots. Without them runescape would die.

Well, there was, so that's not really a debatable question to be honest.

This thread is pretty pointless >_<

    If there were no bots?

I agree with your original post for the most part, except for that fact that it would indeed be very hard to obtain raw resources... which would cut into the game's fun-factor.
