    Integrating trustwho.com into sythe?

On another forum I used to visit, there was a system for integrating trust who verification into their website.

Trust Who is something that verifies your name and address through their system.

"The verification for Trust Who is a way of making sure the person you're ordering from is really the person they say they are. Among other things, the Trust Who verification is used to confirm the location and identity of the person ordering the verification in the first place. Put more simply, the purpose of Trust Who is to remove the anonymity of the Internet in online trades. more..."

I know this can be done as i've seen it on multiple VB forums.

I think this would be useful to the community on reducing the number of scammers here, and it's rather cheap to purchase for people who do multiple #'s of trades here. this doesn't guarantee that the person isn't a scammer, however it would provide a person behind the username that scammed you.

I think this would help a lot more legitimate people mark themselves as legitimate without the hassle of vouches, etc.

Post your comments here on what you guys think.

    Www.trustwho.com is the website.

To be honest, this really only assists the trusted people ho are already legit. This wouldnt really do much to ward off the scammers I dont think. It is an interesting idea though, what other forums have you seen this implemented on?

Actually the fraud rate for people who use trust who is 0.3%...and all i'm saying is that if they scam, their name will be tarnished on the internet permanently.

Also, mmobay, and a few others that I won't mention, however mmobay is advertised here actually :p.

Yes, but what plznate means is that people who are going to scam won't sign up unless it is compulsory, which it won't be.

Exactly, like I stated this helps legitimate new users establish themselves easier.

I suppose so, but there is really no need for any of this. Use a middleman, or for extra security an official one. The whole system of 'gathering trust' has always confused me.

Exactly, it is a confusing process.

This will help ease that confusion.

    Ugh...

What I mean is that I am confused why people bother to 'gather trust' when they could just use a middleman and remove the need for trust altogether.

I'm gonna have to agree with this one. I know it's hard to gain trust at first, but you can slowly climb the ladder. Although even if you do use a MM, the buyer can chargeback and the seller can recover. And how long does this process of 'verifying your identity' take? Sounds like a long one.

    Trade feedback > Vouches.

It's not hard to integrate this and would benefit the site more than harm it.

In my review of the site Trustwho.com, I support if not the company, the concept presented. A member could be given recognition/rank for being verified by this site. Simple Concept. A member submits an email from the verified email account to a selected email address which is reviewed by a moderator. Considering the risk in the collection of a members' personal information, it makes perfect logic to consider an outside source. There will eventually come a point where Sythe will take steps to protect the legit... I feel this service provides if not a solution, a method to be considered.

Lastly, I would be more than interested in taking part of this process if asked.

Thank you for your input, spyike. I completely agree with you and that rank or at least a link in the member profile area would be good.

I for one do not what my personal information made public. I'm barely comfortable giving out my mailing address and I have no interest in doing so.

I live in Canada, only those in Canada could charge me for minor offenses, and the odds of someone chasing after 20$ is so unlikely that it wouldn't concern scammers.

Owain, you don't HAVE to use this service. People who want to provide their details will just be confirming that they are more legit, and I believe that people who sign up then later fraud can be banned from trustwho, I may be mistaken.

There is only a 0.3% fraud rate for people using trust who. This also helps verify that you are the owner of the paypal account you are sending this thru, making paypal a more legit service.

If you aren't going to scam you shouldn't worry about being charged for offenses. ¬_¬

However, giving out your details is something else. The website looks really professional. I'd sign up for it as long as my details were kept hidden, as there is no reason for someone to know them as i've not scammed anyone. etc.

Your total info will not be given out unless in cases of fraud, I believe.

Therefore only legitimate users will be using this, and therefore it'll help establish who is guaranteed legit, etc.

However, on other forums people who are non-trust who verified still have no problems trading :D

I'd like phone # and address verification, but ll has to be done thru the mail. And it does take a few weeks when done right.
