    Avatars and User Titles

I've thought about this before, but I don't think I posted it as I'm uncertain as how the rule goes for this at the moment.

On Sythe, user titles are granted to others if they are either a Staff Member, good friends with a Staff Member, or have donated personally to Sythe. It has come to my attention in recent months that users have been creating avatars to make it look like they have a different user title.

A perfect example would be here:
    http://www.sythe.org/member.php?u=252168

With the avatar placed where it is, it looks as if AshleyoX has the user title 'The Sexy Leecher'. I've seen this avatar used in the past.

Now, one may ask, "What's the big deal with a user title like that?" Precisely this:
    http://i40.tinypic.com/1zyxbw8.jpg

Shown in the picture is AshleyoX stating that they have the user title as they are friends with Staff Members, and that's how AshleyoX has the above said UT. As a result, AshleyoX is attempting to fake having trust by being known by Staff Members that would change his/her user title for them.

Now, for most this may not seem like a big deal, but one must think of the age groups that are most active on Sythe. There are many people scammed a day, and this is very well another way to mislead the uninformed.

    My suggestion?
Make a rule so that users are disallowed the use of an avatar for to look as if they have an enhanced user title. Simple as that.

    Thoughts on this anyone?

Agreed, it's a fun thing to do, but maybe one should have to donate for it? That would make it complicated, probably better to ban it altogether.

I don't support, I neved done that, but I mean hey, it's an avatar and you can have anything there. If people are stupid enough to see that it's not a usertitle, then idk what to tell them. And it really doesn't bother me. Also, would a leecher who just joined like a week ago w/o donating would even get a custom UT? No, so /thread

    This.

It's just a bit of fun, and the one who originally did this was being smart.

And it's often blatantly obvious it's a part of the Avatar.

Sorry, but no support. It is pointless and if you can't tell the difference between a part of the avatar and text, then that person is pathetic.

Most of the people that use Sythe are above 14. Surely, they're computer literate enough to tell if it's a UT or an image? Just seems pretty pointless.

I've seen a grand master do it before. I think it was Pokemoners, but I'm not too sure. He had that too. I looked closer and saw how poor the image was and said "My god this is sad. If you want a custom UT, go donate". It's all for fun anyway.

I think that sorta stuff is fine, its when they use staff only items in them like santa hats or yellow phat's, that should be banned.

Even though most of you don't support, this is most definitely against the rules. Sure a lot of the people who do it have harmless user titles such as "the sexy leecher", but it also includes the possibility of a member creating a deceiving user title, thus leading to someone getting scammed or tricked. I don't see why it should be allowed for one to have the appearance that they have a user title when it's a commodity and isn't allowed for everyone. In this case, why don't we just let everyone make user titles? No. That's not going to happen. I definitely support this as it likely will lead to someone getting scammed or tricked.

Also, those of you who say you have to be stupid to believe it's a real user title, the truth is that a lot of the members function in the black market and many are relatively naive and might be misled.

This can be against the rules in certain cases...

In general, people are allowed to do this. HOWEVER, not to impersonate being on staff as that is against the rules.
