PayPal Gift???

I quit rs for a few years but back when I join Sythe (2007), paypal payments were only accepted if it was verified (not CC). The buyer then request seller to select *services and claim & cancel.

Why does nobody request this? What happened? Why is it *gift and not *services and no need to claim & cancel?

I'm really interested because before I became active on Sythe again I sold something for $60 on paypal and I asked the person to select *services and claim & cancel. I didn't know selecting *gifts was the way to go now. What made it change and most importantly can the guy recover his $60 back?!

The only way he has a chance of getting his money back if he gifted it is by claiming unauthorized access. Slim chance, though.

 

Very slim knowing they check IP addresses at that point. I have had people try to file a claim/dispute about a gifted payment in the past, none succeeded. The only other way to make a safe payment is to claim and cancel, but gift works as well. You'll be fine.

Let me clarify exactly what happened. The guy I sold my items to was somebody I know online well, he didn't have a Paypal so he told me his relative will send me the money (who has a bank funded paypal). I told his relative to select goods/services + a message saying he got the payment + claim & cancel. Well... after a few minutes he says he sent the money but I didn't receive any at all, it was then decided that something was wrong and he had to go. The guy that I was doing the deal with then told me he'll try to send the money with his friends paypal himself. Using his relative's paypal he successfully sent me the money doing everything I asked (services/goods, a message saying he received the item, and claim & cancel)

Looking back right now I'm a bit worried because it was fishy how his relative's own paypal was unable to send me the money and instead someone else did (the guy I'm doing the deal with)

 

If he did a charge back then canceled it then I think your safe?
Or did I miss something?
