im debating getting a psp.need you opinions

im debating getting a psp 2000. i mainly would want to get it to hack it and be able to play psx and other emulators and roms on it(mainly psx though).it would be like 150$ dollars for a psp and a 16gb memory chip(think that would hold plenty) i currently have a ipod touch and one of the main things holding me back is the ipod is a form of portable gming device but the emulators and other games dont realy work well with a touch screen. just wanting to know your opinions on getting and hacking a psp if you have done so,is it worth it?

 

get an xbox, why get a prettysmallpenis?

 

^i have a 360 but i just thought it would be cool to have a small portable emulator player. also i would download psp games of course

I would rather buy more 360 games than buy a PSP.

You're not missing out on much, really. Most PSP games are mediocre and you'd just listen to your iPod on the go anyway.

Also, you would need to go through the trouble of downgrading and customizing your PSP's firmware to emulate other handhelds. Plus the homebrew emulators for the PSP tend to be unstable and glitchy.

Pocket PCs and iPhones make better emulators.

Yeah, I have the PSP 2000.

The difficulty of "hacking" it can depend on what firmware is already installed on the PSP.

I was able to downgrade mine through a .tif exploit, and then installed custom firmware. I've switched the firmware several times since, and right now I'm running 5.50 GEN-B.

It can be easy when you have a Pandora's Battery and a Magic Stick, but you have to make them yourself and have to deal with actual peripherals, rather than software. You could buy those too I suppose, but it would cost you.

ChickHEN uses the .tif exploit. It can make many tries to get the PSP to flash ChickHEN.

Also, it requires firmware 5.03 to be installed.

Chances are that if you buy a new PSP, it will have a newer firmware installed.

 

150$ dollars is nothing, Jam with it for a few weeks if you don't like it then send it off to someone else..

 

Get a 360 man.
Theres way more to do on the 360.
And also, more people play online, I'd get a 360, but thats just me.

I personally wouldn't recommend a PSP, i think all handheld portable gaming system's get boring incredibly fast. I used to have a DS back in the day, played it for a week then gave it away.

 

PSP is wayyyy better than ipod touch for gaming, especially when you're using emulators. If you wanna play old-school games on the go, buy a PSP and hack it. It's so easy, a caveman could do it.
