I'm really starting to become more than stressed with your efforts lately. I have told you lately how <brother in law> and I are feeling and it doesn't seem to matter because nothing changes. I need you to understand that this is unhealthy for me especially since I am pregnant! Stress can make a person sick but is also harmful to the unborn child. I cannot continue through this summer like this. <brother in law> and I really try to be fair and decent but we need you to become more responsible for yourself and the things that need to be done. At this point we have made a list of 14 places that you could apply to. I expect that by this Monday 5/16/10 you will have applied to all 14!(yes its bold in the letter) If some on our list don't seem fitting to you then you can come up with your own, but I am expecting you to have applied to 14 places (not including <local grocery store I already applied to>) by Monday- and don't think you can wait until Sunday to try to start this- you will need a few days to get it done. One thing I've always said is when you don't yet have a job, looking for a job is your job and you should be putting in as much effort and time into finding a job as you would be working on one. If you appreciate the room we are providing for you, you will take us seriously. If you choose not to change your efforts and the 14 applications are not complete by the time we get home from work this Monday - we will be asking you to leave the house for good. No excuses. I hate to have to see it coming to this but I don't know what else to do to get you motivated and I'm not living like this this summer - It's too stressful.

I know -applying- isn't hard..

I applied to 6 places last summer and only even heard back from one. And it was a "sorry we aren't interested in you" letter, months later.

And after shit like that happens, and all my friends are running around trying to find jobs and can't either. So basically I just feel like its pointless applying.

 

Eh Daily.. actually you strike me as the person who smokes weed, plays on the computer, and loves to go to concerts.

You're probably not involved in a lot of activities and not a premier candidate. So become active...

Get a haircut and shave before an interview too. If they don't call you to arrange one, call them up and speak to the manager. You need to be assertive.

Getting a job is actually quite difficult here. Since january I've applied to probably around 30-40 places and have only gotten one interview which is probably going to be soon.

 

And what, they just left you a typed note?

 

Yeah that list of 14 places included everywhere to apply in my city, and the two towns around me. (to give you an idea of the size of the area)

I halfheartedly applied to some local fast food joints, but it looks like I need to get serious about getting a summer job. I guess I need to really put in some effort. Good luck Nick, I hope you can get something.
