Donations to Sythe.org

I think the current system is too hard to make it donate to Sythe.

I think there could be a better system implemented... Members who live outside the U.S find it hard to donate via mail, then the only other method is Western Union which has high fees and is really is a pain in the arse.

I've been looking at some check outs for awhile now for my other website projects/businesses... and Matthew I think you should check out https://www.iverified.com/

Basically you can take credit card payments and debit card payments. Now that the banks are giving debit cards to kids, they are able to use their money to donate and support the site they are making money from. There is then no risk of charge backs OR a paypal account getting limited or banned.

There are no monthly fees with it, and payment is pretty swift, I've heard nothing but good reviews about these guys... The sole reason I guess.. is so Sythe can get more donations through credit cards & debit cards while making it easier for international members to donate. They charge 5% & .50 which is far less than Western Union fees... I think you should look into it as an option... There are no annual fees either...

I think Spyike is doing a good enough job. Matthew has said himself that it's working very well with Spyike and donations have shot up. And by using that website, surely they can still contact their bank and/or the website and reverse their payment? Do you have to have a debit card to use that website, or is it like PayPal, where you can recieve and send money without having a linking card?

 

Under the donation link/separate page I didn't see any method for Spyike

The website I mentioned does not have accounts and add cards to it, it also takes "high risk transactions". The user would have to donate through the site and it would ask for their cc or debit card... If they then try and dispute the transaction iVerified will obtain all information and give that to the bank and the dispute will be between them. They have all these safe guards in place, ie... ips that don't resolve will not go through, they ask for their postcode for the where the bill is sent... also these days Visa has Visa Verified I'm not 100% sure, but I think they use that for most Visa transactions.

Well, Spyike accepts donations via PayPal and then sends money to Matthew via mail. Although he does it differently. He sends Matthew $300 for example first, and then takes donations from people and PM's Matthew. Matthew then deducts the said amount from the $300 he has sent him already. He wouldn't be under the Donation Link because he isn't official, but he should be.

Back on topic to the website, I think it's a good idea, but the only problem is, kids robbing their mum and dads card and using it. And when the statement comes through and they see money took from their account and they don't know what it is, they're going to dispute it, surely?

 

Regardless... It's still a legit debt.. They (The parentals) have to ensure their cc are in a safe location.. The transaction is a legit transaction and the resolved IP will prove it, it would be a different story if you ended up using a credit card and the ip didn't resolve.

However, Ivertified still proves where the location was, so against the Banks... the Banks cannot get the money back... and the Bank will refer the customer (Parentals) to their ToS (Terms of Service) for their credit cards..

The problem with Spyike is that whatever he is doing.. he is still using paypal.. so you have that doubt that after so many chargebacks it will be banned or limited... while wasting time making multiple paypal accounts.. Like I said... it's just something to check out...

Spyike has had a few disputes/chargebacks and won them all. He goes as far as contacting their parents. Sad, I know, but it gets the job done, and is helping Sythe make shed loads of new donations.

It seems like a good idea. Spike managed to increase donations by a large amount but getting more methods will just continue to increase the amount of donations that are received.

Here's a thought. Create a poll to ask if people would donate more if this was implemented?

Yes he will. Just because people would have the option of donating via a debit card, doesn't mean people won't want to donate via PayPal still..

 

PayPal for Sythe in my opinion is currently the leading/easiest method for transferring funds no matter what the need. As for credit cards, I feel if a member has a credit card, he could easily have a PayPal. I do what I can to assist Sythe and members. Currently I have $900 with Matthew and plan to maintain over $500 based upon donations trends. Members still have a hard time locating my free service which IMO would be much easier if I were official or perhaps a sticky. Perhaps in time..

 

I agree that you should be official, or atleast stickied, but that isn't down to me.

 

Sorry to go slightly off-topic, but do you just accept donations via your PayPal and transfer them to Sythe? Surely if there was an official PayPal, it would make donating a lot easier and simpler and help out a lot of people, heck I bet you'd even make slightly more by donations.
If there is never an official one, at least have your thread stickied in all fairness, it will help a lot of people.

 

Can someone please clarify how I would be able to donate via PayPal. I went to the Sythe Donation Center and in the I saw "Note: We do NOT accept PayPal or E-Gold!" I would like to donate around $25 via PayPal but it's all a matter of who/where I send the money. PayPal is my only option so if someone could please assist me, that'd be great.

I am what you call "Bonded". This simply means I maintain an ample amount of money with Matthew to cover pending/future donations.

You can donate via Spyike. He keeps a certain amount of money with Matthew to cover donations. His service is currently free and he is very, very trusted. I am thinking of donating via him soon.

On-topic: I don't fully agree. Paypal is the most preferred method around. Sure, some people would like to be able to use debit cards, but the majority of the people that would like to donate would prefer donating through Paypal.
