More Off-topic Mod contribution in SFA.

This may only be me, but I *very* rarely see an Off-topic Mod make a thread in SFA, let alone post (besides to moderate, of course). Something for All is the most intellectually stimulating section of the forums, and so I think that the moderators of that section should also contribute to such discussion and its overall effectiveness. I would even go so far as to suggest SFA become its own section, with its own mods, but I'm sure that would be quickly refuted...

It would make it to complicated it's fine as a sub form in the off topic section. More off topic mods would be fine I guess to clean up threads a little more I would only suggest 2 more mods at most or even 1.

It wouldn't make it complicated at all; It would just be a small section. Did you even read my post? My intention is not to encourage cleaning up threads, (though that is always necessary) but to suggest an approach that encourages more moderator involvement in the actual discussion - the essence of SFA.

Being an Off topic mod doesn't necessarily mean you have to post in SFA because if you don't know then don't post generally affects every section. Why do you want SFA to be its own section. If they got mods only for SFA then why not go as far as making mods for the gaming section such as console gaming mods and FPS mods it's generally the same thing. I browse the off topic section more than anything else of this forum and sometimes there isn't much to be said on a specific subject.

If you had a separate moderation base for something-for-all, maybe then we would get more posts in it, and less spam. Just finding the right people to Moderate it would be hard to do, as the off topic mods should take some responsibility to moderating it.

Separating it won't get more posts that doesn't make sense at all. There will always be spam posted or topics less interesting then others. Picking people to moderate it would be extremely difficult if it was done. The point of Off Topic mods are to mod everything in the section and most of the time there isn't much work to be done i suppose.

We don't have to post...just moderate. I rarely post there because the SFA doesn't interest me, or I'm not smart enough to comprehend half of what is posted there. I do agree with an SFA mod though.

Yes, Louis, the fact that all you have to do is moderate is the very reason for my proposition - its own section with moderators that contribute actively in addition to regular moderator responsibilites. A lot of people have said similar comments, so this addresses all of them.

I see quite a few very trustworthy and active members in SFA.

I read all of the threads in SFA but do not contribute as often as I should. The forum itself is well-moderated, but I'll admit we should be posting there more often. I'll try to step it up on my part.

I do agree, the current SFA mods seem to post in the Spam Forum and occasionally the Personal Support, and rarely in SFA if at all.

I think a SFA-only mod would be overkill, but an extra person or two should be sufficient. And this time, somebody who is actually active outside of the Spam Forum.

They don't need to. But why do we need a moderator? Sythe himself posts a lot in that section :)

But if you guys feel the need of a SFA Mod, then I guess you should go for it.

Don't rush into finding one the person you seek will reveal themselves one day. Then again i don't see what would be ''Appropriate'' for SFA moderating would that be someone with great knowledge or maybe someone who has been on sythe for a while and knows how to moderate and give some good ideas/debates to the SFA section.

I still stand by i see no real point in having a SFA mod when a off topic mod does almost the same job.
