TWC information

For members who have been given TWC, perhaps a link could be placed in their signature showing the reason they received the TWC? Or a reason posted in their profile about why they got it?

 

I like this idea. Even though we can generally assume why someone got a TWC, it wouldn't be a bad idea to know exactly why.

 

There are some instances which merit a TWC which I might let slide when considering a trade with someone, while there are those which I will not. Clarification would be nice.

My question is once a user is given a TWC what does it take to get rid of it? Is it 6 months or x number of trades?

 

There is no defined requirements. It's at the staff's discretion.

TWC normally comes when either somone is requesting it since they were hacked. Or the staff decide who gets it.

 

There are instances like Hahanerd who no one really knows why other than him being accused. No one knows why Daily did. I guess maybe the staff does, but they're holding their cards to their chest.

 

I think it would be a nice idea. Then you could see why they had been giving a TWC before trading with them.

Meh, twc's are usually given after a very suspicious case that mods could not prove if the accused was guilty or not i believe? I also believe we should be informed of our infractions if we get temp banned...

This will be especially great for those who have requested there TWC's.

Kind of a big problem with that suggestion: Users can edit their own profiles and signatures (to remove links or change the apparent reason), and not all TWC's are issued because of a thread that can be linked to. The staff often request TWC's after their own dealings with the user (ie someone who logs out when they're invited into a convo to MM), and sometimes they don't really want to release the information (as with Daily).

 

That. Ask the user to prove why they got the TWC before you trade with them. Its pretty easy for them if they have done it before.

 

I understand, but what if the link could be put next to their username or TWC? It might look untidy, but it could help.

 

Is there not a way to permanently add a link or something which the user could not edit?

 

Not with VBulletin, especially in signatures and profiles; unless Matthew has made a modification that I'm unaware of. And like Sin said, much of the time the reason isn't released because it's a private issue somehow linked to within the staff. Usually a normal member would get banned, but I assume those with a little bit greater profile would receive a TWC if there wasn't enough proof for a ban, but enough proof to raise suspicion.

I think its a good idea. It would help out trades. Most of the time I wouldn't even trade with someone who has a TWC but I would think about it if I knew the reason why they got it. (If it was mod given, maybe scammer, and so on)

 

From the drop down menu when you click a name it could have the normal stuff then the reason.

 

can any admins make the user title like the TWC a clickable one..? then you can put the link there which user's cannot edit.. but I don't know if you can do it in Vbulletin.
