Want to script, what to use?

I've been off RuneScape for a while now, but one of my friends recently said he needed money, so I said I'd try to make a bot for him. I have programmed in Java and in Python in high school and college, and I think I can adapt to other languages quite well. I just don't know where to start.


What can I code in? I remember SCAR was very popular back in the day, but I don't see much about it anymore. I see this RSBot, but do I just download and start scripting or what? What language are most scripts written in? It's summer, and I have a job and a bunch of free time for the next few months, so why not make this script for my bud. Thanks for responses in advance.

 

I hear that if u want to write scripts for the nexus client you can show off examples of your coding abilities at rscheata.net and then I'm guessing they will run you through the basics, but I'm not a coder, so these are just guesses based on myobservation. Gl man.

If you're good, they may even hire you to make upcoming scripts, and you will get a decent percentage of the profits.

 

Chances are that anything that isn't available for free at rsbot.org or at any pay site is either ridiculously difficult to make or useless (completely outclassed by another bot).

RSBot (rsbot.org) is fairly simple to setup and use, they have decent explanations in the help section if you don't understand something. You could always get on msn and ask me too =P

Scripts for runescape bots are almost entirely written in Java.

To write a script, just put the bot's jar in your IDE's classpath and you're good to go.
