    Donation Perk = Name Change

I don't see many problems with it being an official perk for $500 donors for multiple reasons. Mainly because Spyike is likely the only $500 donor we have ever had. A name change from Spyike270 to Spyike isn't bad either - it's not going to something completely different. I also do see Sin's point though, you likely want it for yourself (and that's ok because anyone in your position would) rather than for anyone who donates $500. You probably should just leave it at that, PM an administrator and ask.

Just quickly commenting on Sin's "Causing confusion" statement, I can see where that would be an issue if he were to, let's say, change his name from "Spyike270" to "rsmain281293" or something, But simply removing excess numbers from the name doesn't confuse me one bit.

There are circumstances where making it an official perk could become troublesome. I understand that this level is not reached by many, but all the more reason to keep it on a situational basis. Why hardcode something that is not necessary to hardcode?

[N]ick got his [] removed within the last few days. Spyike was offered a mod position, and I often forget the numbers ;)

Is it better to be well known or really not known at all?

Also how much resistance is there if the change is minimal, as in keeping the same name without modifying it very much? (if you can answer that).

If it is to be created as an official perk, perhaps a compromise would be wording it differently. Politics anyone?

How about, at a high donor rank you may -request- a minor name change? It is not set in stone that it will be granted and will be based on the circumstances, but as a high donor, you will be given special consideration when requesting a minor name change.

I have no plans on making this a perk.

Sometimes staff members get changes to make their name more professional or easier for members to remember.

Normal members, however, (regardless of donation status) are not allowed to have name changes. I believe this is something Sythe himself decided.

So, since this is essentially denied, it'll be locked.
