    Donation Perk = Name Change

I'm requesting that a Name Change be added to the Donation perks. As a $500 donor, I feel I've contributed more than the trouble it would take to consider my request. My request is that my name be changed from Spyike270 to Spyike. I have secured account Spyike if this is approved/considered. Thanks

I'm sure small things like taking off numbers at the end of your name can be done, try PMing an admin.

I agree. People who've donated more than $500 bucks should be allowed name changes. But not major changes. Maybe just removing the numbers at the end of the name.

I agree, you've contributed enough if louis got the ":)" removed then you deserve the 270 removed.

RS considered this for years.. I feel it would be a strong perk to support donations. My suggestion is that it be included from here forward as a perk to moderators and $300 donors. Name change can only occur once unless the member donates another $300. Just an opinion

$500+ donator? Hell, I believe you deserve a share in the site's revenue for contributing that much money.

Hahanerd45 also had the 'H' in his name capitalized. And he was on;y a 50+ at the time.

I agree that it should be a perk to mods and $300 donors. But it shouldnt be only once. It should be like once a year.

You don't improve your chances by making a big deal out of it. Now, if you do get a name change, people will fuss over why they can't have one too.

That said, name changes will never be an official donation perk. While a donation (or being staff) may improve your chances, there are too many conditions that must be met for it to be offered in any general context - it depends on how well known the user is, how extreme the change, whether or not the name is already taken, etc.

How would it need a lot of conditions? only minor name changes can be made. Admins can decide whether or not the change would be considered "minor"

Although I often agree with you 100%, I'm not so sure this time. A user wishes to donate $300 to change his name and the answer is "No"? How about we consider this for just a minute.. Would someone less than 100-posts be silly enough to request for the price of a $300 donation? No.. How about someone that has an old account and/or perhaps 1000-posts? Moderators and IMO large donors should be considered. Making name tweaks & changes randomly is what causes issues which most of us have seen time and time again.

Lastly reference making a big deal out of it? I posted this for member feedback, not Admin approval. Yep, you're right I could've just PM'd an Admin and requested it. I'm not about to do anything that anyone else could not do when it comes to Name Change. My request is that this become an official donation perk.. If it is not accepted, then I will stick with the same rules everyone else must live by and drag 270 along with me.

    Donation Perk = Name Change

There already are high-end donation perks: custom/enhanced usertitles, custom userimages, and custom ranks.

Name changes can cause a fair amount of confusion, especially during account reviews, promotions, and scam reports. Using scam reports as the example, if a member gets a name change and is not well known, the moderator reviewing the report will only see that the reported user does not exist, and dismiss it. As such, a valid name change requires moderators to be able to keep track of which users have changed their name to what.

Just because a user has donated a fair amount doesn't make them well-known. That easter bunny kid is a perfect example: 100m+ donator, somehow 1k+ posts, and I don't have the slightest clue who he is. Thus, there is a lot of subjectivity in the restrictions for name changes. Who's to say what constitutes a "minor" change, or what makes a user "well known"? Such vague restrictions cannot be made for something that users will need to donate $100+ to get.

Let's be honest. You don't care about other donators: this thread is really an, "I, Spyike, would like a name change: let's make a rule so I can have one." All you really had to do was PM an admin and ask.

Ahhh Sin... This time you're mistaken. As I said, if this is not an official perk, I keep the 270. Wanna bet?

I wouldn't mind going from xX FireZ to....F i r e Z but I am not worried about it. My only problem with $300+ is that is a lot of money for the average person to dish out to a website no matter which one it is on the internet.
