Legalization of marijuana

I was just curious about how everyone here at sythe feels about the whole idea of legalizing or decriminalizing marijuana.

Good. While your post is filled with misinformation, and proves my last statement that people who think it should be illegal are morons, even if it were true, there are 6.8 billion people alive. I see no harm in letting a few die enjoyably.

 

Legal for sure. More tax money, don't have to worry about it being laced, no more turf wars over dope. It would solve so many problems. People would drink less as well, and alcohol is far more harmful. Also, the amount of smokers would not significantly increase if it was legalized.

Except Carl Sagan I guess.

If you actually believe this, then I feel REALLY bad for you. Marijuana has been known to cause brain problems is EXTREMELY high doses (ex: smoking your body weight in weed).

And saying it makes you homeless is completely ridiculous. I guess you could argue that its a "gateway drug" and causes you to do other drugs like heroine that will make you homeless.. But even thats not entirely true. Not everyone that smokes weed will end up trying other drugs.

ALSO marijuana does not effect your heart, liver, or kidneys. And if you dont SMOKE it, it won't even harm your lungs.


And if they did legalize marijuana they could tax the crap out of it and the government could make money that way. Not to mention all the extra food that people would be buying because they have the munchies. I know legalization would cause a number of other problems too, but i do think its the best option.

AND look at Ozzy Osbourne! he's still alive and is much older than 40! Sure he's not really functioning that well, but thats from his extreme use of LSD, not marijuana.

 

Please explain what part is false information. All the information YOU presented was completely false/scare tactics they use in school to prevent teenagers from smoking.

I'd go for I don't really care option, would not bother me if it was legalized. But do you guys think that legalizing this drug now would in the future provoke people to seek the legalization of other harder drugs?

 

Give me one good reason to legalize it other than the fact that it's natural.

If it keeps being a party drug I won't ever support the legalization.

Keep it illegal. Some say that alcohol and cigarettes cause the equal problems. Yeah, maybe since it was legal when they both were manufactured and didn't know that they caused so much problems and they couldn't enforce making it illegal. Such as prohibition in the 1930s America. They wouldn't want another thing which causes harm to be legalized and be in the same situation as cigarettes or alcohol and couldn’t enforce removing it again. Would they?

 

Lots of people here are going to pick the legalize option for all the wrong reasons. I say legalize it so people don't think it's so amazing that they smoke it and it helps the economy

 

Legalize it. Tobacco is what should be outlawed, it actually kills people, whereas marijuana is proven to do no damage alone... it even helps fight cancer...

The only real danger is the decisions people make while under the influence, but that's their own choice. If they're going to go to a party while high, and be unwillingly introduced to other drugs, and too destabilized to resist peer pressure, then it's their own fault, and they should think more about where and with whom they socialize while under the influence. Beer can do exactly the same thing, and it's legal....

 

Actually, in Canberra, Australia, growing your own weed and carrying up to 4 grams of it is legal. It's illegal to sell it, though.
