Gaming computer for under $1000 Australian!! * LOOK *

Ok, my challnge was to make a computer that works and isn't a peice of crap for under $1000 AUD

Keep checking back at this thread to see how im going with it

    Cpu
    Intel Core i5-750 / 2.66GHz / 8MB Cache / LGA1156
    $232.10
    [IMG]

    MotherBoard
    Asus P7H55-M Intel Mainboard - 4x DDR3 / 6x Sata / 1x IDE / Gigabit Lan / Onboard VGA/HDMI / LGA 1156
    $107.8
    [IMG]

    Power Supply Unit
Thermaltake Litepower 500W ATX Power Supply
    $62.70
    [IMG]

    Hard Drive
    Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA 3Gbs
    $89.00
    [IMG]

    RAM

    Corsair DDR3 6GB PC-10600/1333 (3x XMS3 2GB) CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 Ram
    $201.30

    Grahpics
    Asus NVIDIA EN9800GT-DI-1GD3 GF9800GT, 1GB, DDR3, PCIE2.0, 1xDVI, VGA, HDMI, HDCP, ATX
    $139
    [IMG]

    Case
Cooler Master Elite 360 - Black ATX Tower Case
    $50.60
    [IMG]

    Optical Drives

    LG Blu-Ray Combo Drive (8xBD-R / 3xHDDVD / 16xDVD)
    $168.30
    [IMG]

    Total: $1050.8AUS hehe :)

If you really want it for under $1000 (like i did) take out the blu-ray and put in a cheap $40ish dvd-r/cd-r combo...
Anyone got ideas for upgrades for inproved gaming?

Edited it so it should be more "upgradable" and "future proof" so u can upgrade it to I7s and stuff like that...
if you get new power supply and another grahpics card SLI will work. (600W+ powersupply would be needed)

    What its worth:

    https://shop.1wow.com.au/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=272&idproduct=8348
Its better then that computer and that computer cost $1899Aus... :)
I would say u could sell it at about $1600... if you got a awsum thermaltake case probably could get $1800 (looks DO put the price up if who your selling to are idiots)

It's actually really easy. You can get a good computer off da internetz too:
    http://www.pcmarket.com.au/

My friend showed me a site today, there were lots of epic gaming computers with good graphics, good processors and 2gb - 4gb ram all for under $1000.

    * WARNING * if you do buy a computer like this, please note its not very "upgradable" sure you can change the cpu and ram and add harddrives, but it is not SLI compatible, for tht u would need new power supply, the bluray drive does NOT burn bluray's, it does burn DVD's!!

Tbh, I wouldn't rule out amd, because in your budget range, you are going to get the best bang for your buck from them.

I say this as an intel fanboy and proud owner of an i7. It's just a common fact that amd has more to offer within the budget range.

You should include an operating system / sound card, etc into your computer so it actually works when you turn it on.

Rofl. Getting an OS takes like all of 5 minutes and can be done for free easily, and I'm not sure about his motherboard but generally most of them come with an integrated sound card.. so unless he wants like 7.1 surround sound I think he's good, lmfao.

    @OP

Your case is a little meh, and you could probably dip down to about 6GB, maybe even 4GB and get a better GPU. Your current selected one will do fine for most games, but if you want to increase the longevity of your system I strongly suggest going for something better. Plus right now it's pretty much your only bottleneck.

Look's nice, but why such a low end graphics card when all the other products are somewhat expensive? i advice spending $150- at least on a more decent one.

Get a cheaper optical drive so you can get a better graphics card. I bought an OD for 20 dollars that works AMAZINGLY. It burns, plays games, plays movies, but doesn't have blu-ray, which you really don't need unless you also have a very very nice, large monitor... Else the quality of blu-ray is lost anyway

    Also, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018
    That's a much better PSU.

Lastly; You don't need quad core. No video game takes more than dual core.

I have that Mobo, it's pretty good... the rest is good..

What games will you be playing?
Will you be selling or keeping this?

If you're not going to play on max settings and record, 6GB is overkill imo.
