Obby Mauler

Just a quick question.

I'm at 1-60-1 with 49 hp, never been members - although, that will be changing when I decide my "plan". I'm thinking of getting 40 range and use the maul as my k0 option. Is this the right thing to do at this point? I plan on staying fairly low combat. I'm currently 32.

Suggestions?

That's what I'm thinking. My combat will be really low, and will be very unexpected when I pull out a maul and hit them high.

Plus, I think that I'll only level 2-3 hitpoints levels at the most, so my combat won't be raised much, if at all.

 

Range to obby maul is an efficient combo but you gotta remember that at such a low range level you get levels fairly fast so if you pk alot you might suddenly be range based. I'd suggest using different weapons, could try like iron dagger(p) to maul i guess.

 

I was thinking of something like this. Maybe even a Iron Scim to trick them, boom. Maul = K0.

 

I had a 1/99/1 until I changed to 60/99/1. Honestly, they're the best. I was 60 range and 99 strength at around 48 combat and hitting 40s.

Anyways, your plan sounds good. 40 ranged is enough, and there's nothing wrong with being ranged based. Start at 40 ranged and level it up via pking. 55 slayer for the Slayer Staff is a big plus as well.

 

Thanks, I'm going to aim for 55 slayer too. I think I'm going to aim for 1/60/1 with 40 range, and then whenever I level up range make sure I level up some strength too.

Assuming you are doing this mainly based for fun while PKing, and not attempting to make a profit? At that level it will be rare to get any sort of good loot, but I do agree on PKing at a lower level to be fun.

Anyway; I'd get 50 range for the MSB option as well, if you're getting 40 might as well get 50 and have more options, it'll maybe give you an added combat level at most, depends if you cannon or not.

 

I'm going to PK as a low level to start off with, but over time will advance into higher combat levels. For now, though, it's just for fun.

You can also use dragon darts and then KO with the maul, Also perhaps bring rune c'bow and go with D-Bolts to create variations, this way the opponent will be less able to pick your KO. The problem with maulers is that it's easy to pick the KO if you don't know how. Practice "quick switching" to the maul after throwing a knife or dart. There is a point where you can swap to the maul and it pretty much instantly hits.

Variations of Obby Maulers include:
~ Tank Maul (40/70 Defence, 80+ Strength) Don't get defence levels any lower than at 80 strength.
~ Range Maul
~ Hybrid Maul - I don't like this one.

Or you could choose to change to a Vesta's Pure. This is although, much more expensive.

Be sure to PK with your Zerker Necklace, without it you're losing serious damage, so be prepared to lose a few hundred thousand RSGP whilst in the wilderness.

Agreed with first post, knives and maul is own.

 

if you dont want them to suspect anything, dont use the berzker necklace, you'll hit quite a bit less, but they wont expect the maul., or even better wear something that makes the necklace hard to see.
