Xena, our fur warrior. Xena’s story began
last 2020 when the pandemic hit world-wide... Fate brought us together in a slam area in cavite. Xena got a sarcoptic mange and her owner is not aware about it. By belief and word of mouth, Xena’s owner bathed her and applied motor oil all over her body and left her in the scouring heat to dry that caused her to have a 3rd degree burn as you can see in the first photo.




When the neighbors reported it to us, i immediately went to her former owner's house and told him we have to get xena out of his custody and reported him to the authority.




The second photo was xena when laurascape crew rescued her and we're trying to cure her little by little.




In the third photo she is already showing some progress and is playing with the other rescues at home.



The last photo is the most recent when her body is totally healed and her fur is starting to grow again.

Hi, laurascape is an osrs service who also has a rescue house in the Philippines. Our goals are to help NGO's and independent shelters build a less stray community and to have a considerable diversity of workers from different countries to help them have a stable income than what they are being offered in their country.

 

Hello, Laurascape is my OSRS service that I got back up. Marilyn is one of my workers here and she rescues dogs to. This one named Xena here she got about 2 years ago and she is taking care of 15 of them now.

 

Gray is one of our pwd (pet with disability) at Laurascape rescue. He can't walk sttaight and he needs wheelchair to get around the house. His nerves were damaged by an unknown illness he suffered slmost 2 years ago.

It was late night of May, I am walking home from my work at the shelter when I saw a small dog sleeping and chilling in the sidewalk. First I checked if he was injured but he's not. I tried to get near him and he didn't react so I attempted to give him some bread and he immediately ate it. That's how our friendship started and eventually I invited Milo to our home and he accepted it.

His first days were not easy because he still wanted to get out because he didn't know what a home is. He's used to be in the streets so there are times when he's sneaking around and attempting to jump over the fence and made it outside. I looked for him and found him in same spot were I first saw him. What I did is I brought his favorite bread and after he finishes them I carried him home. While we're walking I told him how much I love him and that I am worried if he's outside. To my surprise when I look at him, he's staring at me and he's literally crying. I saw tears from his eyes and I didn't hesitate to hug and kiss him, I said I will never let him go again... Until now, Milo is with us, happy and he always added up brightness to our home.

 

Every morning there is a cute dog always lurking around and would stop by in front of my door to wait when i am gonna open it. At first I thought that somebody in the neighborhood might be his owner so I am just happy to watch him and give him bread whenever he's around. Then one of my neighbors told me to just adopt him instead, i asked if no one owns him they said he's being used as a stud for a puppy mill nearby. I was shocked and cried when I heard of it because I never thought that he was looking for someone to love him and take him as a family not as a machine. So the next morning I was waiting for him to show up so that I could get him and feed him and adopt him but he didn't show up that day and the following day. I felt uneasy and clueless about what has happened to him. I asked my neighbor who told me about him and politely told her to tell me where that puppy mill she's talking about. She agreed and she taught me how to get there. When I got there I saw Chino and he was chained in the corner for a stud session and there were a lot of female dogs waiting to be stud. I immediately called a friend who happens to be an animal welfare advocate to send all the photos to his fiscal friend from the trial court to seek a warrant for violating RA8485 (The Animal Welfare Act of 1998). Authorities came and put his owner in jail. Chino was freed, taken to the nearest veterinary clinic for check up and laboratories.



Chino loves to sit and watch osrs while I'm playing and is living a happy life at LaurasCape Crib.

Shantay's first vet visit. Our team is trying to sterilize all the male and female rescues that we have to avoid future unwanted puppies so that we can sustain their needs.

In the next picture was her second visit for laboratories to check if her body is ready for the procedure but unfortunately her platelets drop so we have to cure the underlying cause first before spaying her.
