Can you chargeback from Paypal gift?

There are two ways that you can be charged back on PayPal.

The first is Item dispute, saying that you did not receive the item, the item is faulty, etc. This is cancelled out in PayPal gift (as there is no item.)

Secondly, there is Unauthorized dispute, this IS applicable to Gift, as you are saying that you were not the one who sent the money, and PayPal will hold the money and investigate.

I also believe you can ring PayPal and ask them to open a dispute on gifts.

There is no way to be 100% safe from a chargeback. However, your best bet is:

1. Make sure that it is sent as PAYMENT OWED, not gift.

2. In the section where a note can be written, ask them to write "It is for an item I have already received."

3. NEVER, get them to write down "For a VIRTUAL item" PayPal do not accept virtual items, and you will lose the case.

If there is a chargeback you can refer them to this, but remember your not always 100% Safe.

(Also, being bank verified helps!)

 

A third method is if the person uses a credit card to fund their paypal, they can contact the credit card company directly and claim fraud, and reverse the charge.

I think you are confused with claiming/disputing and chargebacks.
Charging back is when the buyer pays with his/her Credit Card or Bank funds, and later calls the bank/credit card issuer and states to have the payment canceled. There is NO WAY to protect from chargebacks, unless ofcourse they send via Balance. It does not matter what payment type people send, it can always be chargebacked if the payment is funded with Credit/Bank funds.

 

Hmm OK. Well a large number of people (Myself included) believe chargebacks to be the same as claims/disputes. So wait till the writer of the OP is back and if she can explain what it is more clearly that'd be great

I have a debit card.. and some1 said you can veryfi it with western union is this true ??

and I thought gifts were unretrievable??

 

I sent payment as gift and i disputed for a scam
and payment got "reversed" but the guy had no paypal balance
or used fake information and i Didn't receive anything back
