I believe that post-count is a contributing factor to the idea of 'trust' on Sythe, however, I'm not saying that just because someone has 1,000+ posts you should trust them.

Post-count should be one of the minor things you think about when trading someone. Instead, taking a look at the legitimacy of their vouches and the quality of their posts would be a clearer way of deciding whether someone is 'trustworthy' or not.

Well i would certainly trust an account with 1000+ vouches as compared to one with 10+, but i still look at the vouches. Of course, 1 post leechers offering a fire cape service = 90% scam :)

I check post count, date created and vouches, making sure the vouches are legit and if he/she isn't a ban evader.

EVERYONE on sythe can scam. No matter how many vouches or post count. For post count, I think it matters a little bit, not much but it does matter. but always trade safe

I consider post count when I review a possible seller. It allows me to review his/her habits concerning purchases/trades, connections/friends, RS interest/knowledge, email accounts and payment methods/history. So in short, if the member is doing nothing but cranking out meaningless posts, you'll quickly size him up as a possible risk to consider.

That is easier said than done and a lot of scammers seem trustworthy before the trade

It was interesting to read through this thread to see what people think makes a trustworthy member. Subconsciously I found myself trusting the opinions of those with more posts more. Which made me laugh when I realised considering the topic of the thread.

Personally I think I'll trust people with a combination of lots of meaningful posts (not just in the trading section either) good vouches, good reputation, maybe people who have donated to the site (ie. those that don't want to lose their accounts). I think I'll also look at things like grammar as this seems to be an indication of maturity. I think a combination of all of these factors will be my best bet.

    :)

Everybody has to get started somehow. And how else to get started than by gaining trust and posting. Nobody will ever for sure know if someone is a "scammer" or not. But its definitely really hard to get started here.

One says posts dont matter, you need vouches. But how does an honest beginner get vouches when they look like a scammer to everybody?

All you have to do is find someone who needs free, small jobs done. Then work your way up. No one starts on the top.

I have to say it's my opinion now that, although it does matter a little bit about post count, you should never entirely trust someone because they have a lot of post. Personally I don't trust anyone any more, due to my number of bad trades (although not that many, considering I have 0 good trades currently it's not great), as my 5th trade, and most recent, was with 'this x' who at the time had 700+ posts on sythe, as well as 20+ legit vouches. He proceeded to scam me for $50, because I was foolish enough to trust him.

Long story short, it's important to have a reasonable post count, but should never be something that makes you trust someone.

Edit: If you go to his profile, by the link in my sig, you can see that he signed up in January 2010, which means he had achieved 700+ posts in less than 4 months. That just makes it completely clear how easy it is for someone to gather a lot of posts in a reasonably short amount of time.

Mainly look for vouches but if someone has a really high post count (example, Gohan Forever) you should trust them more than a leecher.
