    MSN Chat Logs Aren't Proof

    Hello,

There's a sticky in the Report a Scammer section stating that MSN chat logs (XML files) are easily modified. Now, this is true. However, checking the 'last modified' date and time on the XML file, and making sure it corresponds with the date and time of the last message (well, there'll be about a minute delay between the two) proves that it is legit.

    Thanks,

    Matt

This still leaves it very easy to exploit as they could just edit the text file as they are talking to the person in order to frame them.

Chat logs are always counted as proof. Just with very low credibility, but still counted.

What if a mod could log on your Msn, and check the history, maybe that could be proof?

But the thing is, once you have a chat with a person, it goes smooth. You close window. You open a new window and talk to them again and when you close the window the second time the only way you can see wat they typed to you was on chat log. So once you have a conversation with them 2 times and close the window both times, your pretty much screwed if they scam.

The history will just show whatever is in the xml file (which is like a notepad file; easily editable).

Chat logs wont ever be taken proof, and it's just to easy to exploit given this suggestion so I'll lock this.
