    Amount scammed: 82m, but the bigger issue is the progreess and unlocks i've made on the account since buying.

    Explanation of the trade: Bought the account in december 2021, he sent me email and password links rather than giving me access first. I went ahead due to he had more rep and 0 recoveries.
    How they scammed: Accounts been locked as suspected stolen (usually happens when somebody attempts a recovery i've been told). Said he'd help unlock 2-3 weeks ago, since then he's ghosting me me but account is still locked so im unsure if suspicious or not?

    Not sure if this is scam or what else to post, but i'm stuck with a locked account and he obviously knows the previous passwords/creation info and the email it was registered to as he swapped them all to mine.

    Hey guys @Yoshiki and @iFantasticBeast
    I've been teaching abroad so I've been really busy I apologize. The account wasn't recover by myself - I haven't looked back since selling it to Beast. I asked him if he bought/sold gold or something on the account and he said he has but on a different account. He mentioned the account was locked and I have nothing to do with that.
    I think I sold it to him for an even greater discount (like $20 if I recall?) and I'd be happy ro refund half just out of generosity.
    I'm sorry this has happened Beast, I did try to recover that file with the recov info but it was on an old PC back in the states.

    If there is no TOS agreed to then you must maintain account recovery responsibility for two years. You will either need to unlock the account or refund him the full amount paid.

    "Anyone who wishes to sell an account must maintain "recovery responsibility" (they must refund their buyer if the account is recovered or becomes locked and they are unable to unlock it) for at least a month after the sale. If you are an account seller and you do not specifically mention your recovery responsibility in your Terms of Service, by default you have recovery responsibility for two years."

    Okay. Been an honest seller for years and have nothing to do with this acc locking or whatever it is.

    I'm totally fine refunding the $30 if that's the rules. Feels bad man.

    I didn't mean to sounds inconsiderate. I am genuinely sorry you no longer have access to account - I also truly had nothing to do with it's locking. Just a bit frustrating but I'm sorry for your loss.

    I mean if there's no way to recover then yeah I'll take the 82m refund but I'm pretty sure it doesn't need a full refovery, just an email going to the last registered email before mine.

    Just frustrating that I've spent double that on services for unlocking items after purchasing and then my time questing and then gets locked while I was taking a break

    why would it be my email if your email was the one registered to it? @iFantasticBeast

    it says "email has been sent to the registered email" mine isn't registered on there.

    Totally get those frustrations. Like I said though - I have nothing to do with the lock so I'm wondering if you had someone log on for services or something

    Not since early january, so that can't have triggered anything, but its locked due to being stolen which is usually an attempt at recovery if I remember correctly

    So in most cases ive known when they get locked under these circumstances, my email looks like the one who stole the account due to less time registered so most of the time it goes to the longest registered/previous registered email which jagex believe to be the owner

    Or someone tried to log on too many times with incorrect pass? Idk to be honest but I just checked all my emails and I don't have an email from Jagex for that account.
