[denied] Suggestion: Make gold sellers/buyers post their prices in the threads

Hello all,

I have been a member of sythe for almost 2 years I believe and before that a guest for more than 5.

I have been both a seller and a buyer for various things.

I have come here today to put forth a suggestion that runescape gold seller/buyers should be required to post a price for their gold in the threads.

Reasons: It becomes a little ridiculous when I see a thread that states, "cheapest price", I join their discord and it ends up being 20 cents more expensive per million then others. There are quite a few gold sellers/buyers and to join every single discord to find out prices is insane.

This will also make the gold selling business more streamlined IMO. I can understand not posting prices makes the consumer join the discord and in the end the server gets more traffic and users, but it really is a pain in the ass.

I can understand that a seller of account services shouldn't be required to post prices as that is a lot of information that needs to be posted- quests, 23 skills, monster kills, diaries. To fit all of this information in one post would be nonsense and a cluttered mess. Gold selling is much simpler and gold sellers should have no problem posting prices.

My discord is littered with different servers, whose owners guaranteed in their threads, that their price was cheaper than the rest.

This site has more sellers than buyers so I am confident that this suggestion wont go through but its worth a shot.

If I recall there was something like this mentioned before, and while I don't think it's a bad idea I wouldn't be able to support. Sorry mate

The main reason for me at least, it creates negative influx of having to update threads every 5 minutes, going over others threads and such and spending countless hours manipulating the prices which doesn't overall benefit anyone

 

I understand where you are coming from but people bump their threads every hour or so don't they?
Why can't they do the same with the prices?

I have never sold gold before, but changing prices every 5 minutes seems exaggerated

And it might not benefit the seller but it does benefit the consumer immensely, as I said before I have at least a hundred different servers on my discord for buying gold only. 70% of them say they are the cheapest..

I believe the benefits for the consumers would greatly outweigh the minimal work added to the sellers

 

Isn't this what happens at every single market across the world? whether it be gas prices, food market prices, ebay, craigslist?

Even PlayerAuctions requires a price to be on every thread.

A lot of people will always claim to be the cheapest but in fact are not, mainly because it's needing to still profit them as vendors along side give their suppliers the best prices they can offer without compromising

Let's say vendor 1 sells gold for $0.40 per mill, but also buys at $0.35 they make 5 cents per mill profit, that means any amount all the same, some people instead may sell it at .39 or .41 etc but buy at the same price and offer you lower amounts at the let's say .41 and still claim to be the cheapest

It's really a hard thing to pull off, as I say it changes literally on a 10 minute basis

 

I think you are referring to sellers having to join discords to find out prices. This would not be a problem at all if everyone prices would be included in the threads.. Finding competitions prices on the threads would be easy because its all in one place.

 

With them running on many websites, not just 1 (so we're talking bot forums/discord servers etc too) it's hard to keep track of, that means not everyone will remember or is able to. It's the same when I used to work for a few gold websites back in the day, we had to manually update stock via the backend each time we sold gold and it was far too much effort as you would have to update the same second you sell it, and if you didn't guess what you're the worse person in the world for misleading those said people who didn't refresh the page lol

 

I am not referring to that at all, competition breeds competition. You cant expect each person to undercut each other just to get the better customer influx when in fact it's very possible they wont have the demand to cover it

 

Okay so who do gold sellers base the median price of gold off of? It is determined as a whole or do seller need to visit various discords and base the price off of that?

 

Thats valid but I am not expecting everyone to undercut anyone, but if someone wants to sell all of their gold for a cheaper price that's their prerogative

if you're selling less gold to attract people you will lower the price, if there is a giant demand like right now with the ToA update the price will of course go up because they are having to offer more. I'm not sure if you are trolling right now, or actually don't understand how the gold market works

 

By asking them to update their prices via thread as per your suggestion, that is in fact expecting people to.

 

Not at all I am simply asking people to post their prices, they can have a higher price, the same price, or a lower price. Its up to them.

And to answer your other question, I am not trolling, I have no idea how the gold market works. But I do believe there are people who want to sell their gold faster than others and dont mind being cheaper. There are people who dont worry about selling their gold fast and place their gold at a higher price. I simply want to find that lower price without having to visit 50 discords.

 

Would make no sense for them to do that though, if you're a gold website yes I would understand as they have to manually update that every so often but for a sythe thread there isn't really any need for it

A lot of discords will have their prices listed, so then it's up to you to go to them if you feel the need to. Or you can also join trading discords etc, and reach out to any people (and may I add there are a good few too many) and ask their prices. I do the same with @YanLiLi almost daily with buying & selling, same with @Peanut69_420

This doesn't work. I once bumped a thread that had a price point listed and when the individual inquired about my pricing 2h later it had changed. He reported me and I had my thread locked for 72h, for this reason I no longer list my prices on my thread. Rates are far too variable now a days and 99% of the time people will post whatever offer sounds cheapest just to have you inquire so they can jack the rate.

 

I do support this because it can be hard to find the cheapest price in one click, but... It's quite impossible to do it in a good way because of the price fluctuations.

Makes life easier for the buyers who you all are here for. little more effort from sellers but should be like that.
