A Round of Promotions!

While I wish the best of luck to all of the new staff members, I do worry about some of them. Hopefully with good activity (over the long run), those worries will dissipate.

Why do people keep thinking Finn makes all the promotion decisions. It takes a majority vote to be promoted>.>

 

I know it takes several people to allow a Mod in, but usually, Admins can fight people to become staff.

A good example would be Unb4nn3d, I never saw one moderator on that thread that approved, but Finn was team lead and a Rs Mod.

I obviously know that, but I also know winning the heart of an Admin is twice as good unless you have the powers to actually set a rank.

 

Considering the purpose of the thread, are we sure posting our dislike of the system is appropriate? Think we should stick to the topic of the thread which is congrats to the new staff. Just my opinion.

It doesn't matter in the least. Any global or higher can create a promotion poll, and everyone who votes is welcome to debate their opinion on why/why not. If anyone on staff has more sway than another in promotions, then it is only because the other staff members trust their opinion, not because they hold a higher position.

The vast majority of recommendations are necessarily friends of whichever staff member suggested them - this isn't some transparent secret, it's simply part of the process. It is difficult to advocate a position for someone you don't know much about, especially on a site where trust is such a central consideration.

Anyway, I'm surprised by the promotions, but glad to see many of them.
