Is it true that there is no way for a person to verify if he/she received payment via Western Union online? Is it only possible for someone to know that payment arrived when they go to the Western Union buisness in person?

I'm not sure, but if that is the case, it would be worth going there because if you are using WU it is a high value transaction.

R2 verified one of my payments online, so I know it can be done.

Only thing u can verify online is if u are ready to pick up ur payment, it doesnt say how much. And if u call them they are not even allowed to say how much was sent.
So imagine someone sending $1 instead of $100, it will still verify. It's a known scam method, just like paypal e-check: only give out goods when payment is cleared.

Well what you can do is have them take a screenshot of the receipt showing the MLCN (I believe thats the right acronym for it) and the amount sent. That way you know it is authentic.

wat plznate said kind of worries me now because I sent $15 via WU yesterday and even talked to r2pleasent about it. I am 100% it was his real email spelled correctly. I gave him the name and the MTCN that I sent it from and he received it. He gave very short replies and finally when I asked him "Is there anyway you can verify that you received payment via WU online?", he just replied with a no. He did tell me he will go and grab the payment in person tommorow (this was yesterday) and so Im still waiting for his response. Im trying to talk to him right now, but no replies from him.
