Self Mutilation

Such as cutting yourself, etc.

I know that lots of people are probably gonna say " Oh that's stupid" and such. I've done it myself and i can see why some people might feel the need to do it, personaly it was so i could cause pain to myself instead of bringing it upon others (touching, i know ;D), although it's not a smart idea at all.

What are your thoughts on it?

 

what people do to their body is their own business. i don't care, but i wouldn't do it to myself.

 

I agree with MegaMatt.

It's their body, their choice.

I don't care what they do as long as they don't expect sympathy from everyone else.

 

Medically; There's no reason why anyone would ever consider it:
1. Open cuts= Higher chances of infection.
2. Uncleaned and non-specialized knives or tools lead to inaccurate incisions and can damage or puncture major arteries or veins.

Mentally; I feel self mutilation is only for the week. It's only for the people who don't receive any attention and in turn create it themselves. All people who cut themselves say they don't want anyone to find out, but the truth is they're waiting and dying (PUN) to have someone find out.

I don't really care what they do with their body.
Once they start expecting sympathy from other people, however, is when I get angry. Do better, positive things to get attention; not this shit.

 

Well, I sort of feel that the people that do it only do it for attention. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all they do it for is for respect from others, and attention, nothing else.

 

I've tried it and I couldn't ever like cut deep, I tried and tried but blood never actually came out.

 

I have never harmed myself and i don't like when other people do it, but its not my business if other people do it as they can do whatever they want with their body.

If they think it's doing themselves good by bringing harm, it's their choice.

 

To the OP: Instead of hurting yourself AND hurting others, why not just hurt no one -.-

 

I think people who hurt themselves are.....less than smart. You have one body, take care of it.

 

I think they need mental help if they are cutting their selves. That's not something somebody sane does.

doesn't matter, the act itself is not the real issue. when you feel physical pain, it lessens the emotional pain. the real problem is the emotional problems, which are more worrying than some cuts.

the act itself... what do i think? it's dangerous, and anyone who does it should get some type of help with things.

 

I've found that most of the people who actually do these sort of things don't have that terribly much wrong with their lives. I can easily say I've probably gone through worse shit than most of the people that choose to do it, and I've never once considered it (inb4 someone asks what happened)

Personally, I think it's stupid. I can understand being depressed.. but if you're depressed to the point where you actually consider harming yourself, you should probably seek help. What is the point of putting yourself through MORE pain when you can get off of your ass and do something about whatever is the source of said pain?

And then there are the people who actually have little to nothing wrong with their lives, and are only seeking attention.. I've known a guy like that lol. Actually he is still a depressed shithead, but he doesn't harm himself anymore at least. I mean, I just don't get what motivates people to do things like that. You reap what you sow. If you're a dumbass that intentionally causes problems, don't expect your life to be brilliant.

you say you've never done it, but have you never hurt yourself somehow when things were going bad? you've never just done something incredibly embarrassing in front a group of people and pinched yourself? something like that? it may just be me, but i've done it before. nothing like cutting.. pinching and causing mild pain when i've went through shit, yeah

I'm against it, God made our bodies, we're damaging them anyway, but purposely is too far.

 

You have to actually mean it, i had 13 stitches in my cut, and more internal stitches to re-attach the muscle. I had intended to kill myself, failed obviously, though i don't cut myself anymore.

 

I did mean it but thankfully I had failed also. It wasn't a cry for help I did want to kill myself but the only end I could go to was self mutilation because I could never do that to my family.
