Can you explain this "legal way" where we can get pins for under $2 each? legally.

    From what I remember, yes.

But the rule specifically states that you may only sell pins that YOU buy from your own phone or someone else's with permission. How do you know the friend gets them legally? How is it even possible to get them legally?

You could at least explain to the staff how you get them.

We're kind of getting off topic here just talking about ********s. That wasn't the purpose of this thread. Either way, the 'pin rules' thread is flawed. The statement is made in a way that disallowed reselling of pins, the punishment isn't even stated on there, and neither is the rule on the actual official rules thread.

My point. Unless skele's friend has an army of chinese sweat workers, i highly doubt the large amount of pins he sells are all obtained legally.

Again, not trying to point a finger at skele, just pointing out the idiocy and fallability of the rule currently in place.

I don't want to point fingers at Skele or Marrow either, but if the staff has suddenly decided to go hard-core nazi on the pin rules thread, they should also be banned unless they can prove that they legally obtain the pins from their own phone or that they are authorized to obtain them from someone else's phone.

    The Bullshit Act

It is a useful clause; for example, with Jesse. It's hard to write a specific rule against being an asshat, but he only stayed on the site to undermine it. Jethr0x admitted that he collected paypal and other account passwords through his botnets; should he have remained unbanned, simply because he claimed never to have used them, and we have no rule against simply creating lists of people's passwords?

The "bullshit clause," as you call it, allows staff the necessary flexibility to deal with various situations. We cannot predict every circumstance that is deserving of a ban. However, it is not a, "ban for no reason" clause. If any of the 20+ staff members disagrees with a ban, they can contest it, and have the issue reviewed.

That refers to pins obtained by the seller through ********s. As I've stated in one of the other numerous and tiresome threads on the subject, the issue of reselling is still being debated among staff.

Much like in the 'elastic clause' in the US Constituation. The Government is permitted to make laws 'necessary and proper' with reason, but it not given a specific outline. The Staff are able by the clause in the rules to bend the rules as they see fit with reason, which are disputable, but may also be denied.

P.S. Sin, you need to delete your PM's. :(

I don't call it the "bullshit clause". The "bullshit act" is the one where you can be banned for breaking any Sythe rules off of Sythe. Had to make up a name for it since it doesn't even exist.

I think we need to stop trying to regulate how pins are obtained, or remove the Membership section as a whole. Getting rid of Aussie PBP won't get rid of all the illegal pins. Technically, they're all illegal unless some dumbfuck decides to buy a pin for $10 and sell it for $3.

Ah, I thought you meant unconscionable act to be synonymous with bullshit act. Having answered one: of course people are responsible for what they do on other sites, to some extent. Though it's not "any Sythe rule;" it's only those which we deem deserving of a permanent ban here.

I suppose it wouldn't be unreasonable to add a clause to the rules that says users can be held responsible for their actions on other sites, but I doubt it would help anyone. Most people don't read the rules except when they join, and the things that carry over from one site to another are the sort that people aren't likely to stop just because they're told to. Take phishing for example. If a user doesn't see a problem with phishing to begin with, they're probably not going to stop just because our rules say so. (More generally, whenever greed is the driving force, morality and rules are obviously not a major concern.) Rather, they'll simply be more careful about being caught on other sites: not using the same email, nickname, etc.

So, why do we care whether they phish at all? Because the gap between phishing and scamming is small - anyone willing to do one is likely to be fine with the other. The same is true for most permanent ban offenses: they all relate to integrity.

All you guys who say there is no method to obtain pins legally are wrong. I know at least one method that, although you're ripping a company off, is perfectly legal and within the companies TOS.

Sin, can you please get on msn when you read this. There's something I need to discuss with you.

Can the staff at least make this clear in the rules? You can't just assume no one reads the rules and thus have a rule without having it written in the rules. It just pisses me off when the staff assumes that others are supposed to know this without it being stated, especially the ********s rule that's not even on the rules but rather on a different thread that also states you can only sell pins you obtain yourself. You guys need to draw a line on what can and cannot be done, and need to stop bringing up bullshit arguments without listening to what your members think.

Also, if I may add, why was Finn given a second chance? I thought Sythe doesn't give second chances. Shouldn't there also be another 'act' that says if people are found deserving, their ban can be waived? Kind of like a reverse unconscionable act.

If your ripping a company off, how is it legal? And the argument is that the majority of pins purchased in bulk are ******** pins.

99.9% of pins are obtained illegally. Let me ask you this. Would you really call runescape and pay $15 on your phone bill and sell the pin for $3.50? Think about that.

AUS PBP and SMS both are above the $12 mark. I think AUS SMS is $16 AUD.. which is well over $10 USD.
