True, but there is a disproportionately high number of non OMM's who scam compared to other Sythe users ; ) meaning the process is at minimum somewhat effective.

Exactly my point. Same goes with the highly trusted members who offer their services, they are less likely to scam compared to those who aren't viewed as trusted.

    I agree.

Like Gohan mentioned, I argue that because service advertisement would reduce competition, certain users will have a clear-cut advantage over others.

To be honest, if you are not willing to look into the user's history before a trade, you are at fault. Reducing scam is as easy as the use of common sense and a little perception prior to trading. Following the general guidelines and taking your time usually gives you protection and saves you time and money.

If this is implemented, I doubt it will prevent enough scams to be worth the investment of time and work to get it started.

More people would look at the stickies rather than scrolling down through all the members who offer deals that are obvious scams.

Imo, it's worth the time and I think it should happen. Less scamming would happen.

But, of course, I can see that this most likely won't go through, trading with common sense and some precautions will ALWAYS reduce scamming.

I disagree with a list of trusted people. Reffering to the 'DO NOT Suggest list' I think that the trusted list would almost fit into the bolded idea.

Sythe are almost telling users to use these people. More or less making them official sellers, and then if this person scams. Sythe would have to repay them back, similar to OMM.

Yeah, but think about it this way.

If your an "Official" Pinseller, your going too obviously charge more.

People who want cheap pins can still look around the forums for cheaper pins, but if they want too too have a lesser chance of being scammed, they'd go too these "Official" ones.

This happened on Rsbot before they got shut down. It costed people around $10-$15ish to get a thread sticky in a section.

Yeah this and they had A "Verified Services" Section.

Could that ever happen with Sythe?

Often this is because they make one mistake i.e Inventor. He made a joke and it escalated to an OMM being banned.

    Tenguage aswell.

Although at anytime someone could "turn to the Darkside", I feel we should maintain a positive outlook to enhance Sythe for the members who are well established and have a solid history. Set the bar high and back the services to the best possible to protect our members. This may impact the new members that come forward offering services, however there are many members both old and new among us that are more than willing to pay premium prices for legit services. Consider the future of Sythe and the impact of a member losing everything to a scammer. We or prehaps I request to see new concepts in place that show Sythe is looking to the future. Thanks for the consideration and if anything, understand that some of us are legit and should not be viewed as a member that will eventually turn bad.

I agree with the idea however I do not agree with the stickies portion. Instead maybe sythe could install a mod/hack to make the certain threads colored/permanately bold.
