Buying bonds with vpn

Anyone used a vpn to Mexico or Brazil to buy bonds for super cheap?
I don’t want to risk a rwt ban, too dicy. So I’ll buy bonds but they’re a lot cheaper from other countries. PIA is the VPN I have and when I go to buy bonds from Brazil it gives an error connecting to the jagex page. Just curious if anyone has found a successful method for this.

If you’re already paying for a VPN, then yeah, it should work. If not, don’t waste your money on a VPN to save on some bonds.

 

It's literally half price to buy bonds with Mexican pesos. If you are purchasing many of them, it makes a substantial difference

 

Then utilize the VPN. I looked through Reddit, and a few have said that certain VPNs work/don't

 

Update on this. I tried using a VPN and it somehow still knows on checkout that I am in USA and won't let me check out with Indian or Mexican currencies. Anyone got a workaround?

 

I've also been looking into this. I'll post some thoughts/theories that *may* work?

- Creating an account fresh from a VPN in Mexico, that way the creation origin is in Mexico.
- Have somebody from Mexico with a legitimate credit card or something do this for you, obviously they would want a profit.
- If you're using a card issued by your bank, I don't think that would work as you're required to put zip code/billing address. Surely the system would detect that you're in USA.
- Potentially use PayPal. It has auto currency exchanges.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. Let me know if you find any success! I'm also interested in purchasing bonds, as RWT is as risky as its ever been currently.

 

I figured it out.

Mexico - it blocks my VPN and won't let me log in. India - VERY similar price to pesos after conversion. I was able to log in via VPN from India. I put my billing address as a random spot in downtown of whatever the capital city is in India, I found it on google maps. I then checked out and used my American credit card and visa did the conversion for me to USD. Worked perfectly.

 

That's great news! Did you use your main account to do it? Or was this an alt/fresh?

What's the rate you paid roughly? The $/m ratio?

 

It was $0.77 USD/M OSRS, assuming you sell the bonds at 6m each (which I did). Yes, I used my main account

 

Hey man, which VPN did you use?

I did this method back in August using SurfShark to Mexico and it worked perfectly, but I tried again this morning and it no longer works. It looks like Jagex blocked this VPN's IP because It shows my original currency for India (dollars, and Euros for Mexico for some reason?)

 

I use PIA. Mexico it straight up blocks me from logging in. I used private browsing mode, cleared my cookies and fired up osrs.game from my browser with the India VPN active. What you probably forgot was to use an address in India. If you use an American billing address it will charge you USD. Hope this helps

 

Thanks, however I don't have any option to change the address as far as I can see, and I didnt have to do that back in August (I just paid via paypal and it worked just fine). I am not blocked from logging in, but the currency doesnt change to Mexican pesos for some reason... I will probably try a different VPN.

First off, thanks for the info/help! yours has probably been the most informative I've seen. I'm running into the issue where the transaction doesn't go through if I use an indian address. I can see the charge as pending on my bank statements but Jagex rejects it on their end cause it doesn't match my bank records. Called my bank to see what I could do and they said that it won't ever go through with a fake billing address. How'd you get yours to work?

 

I used a US bank (that's what the bank is called, the bank that sponsored the Minnesota Vikings stadium) credit card. Mine has a foreign transaction fee of pennies on the dollar that I eat, whatever. My best bud uses a Costco credit card (same method as I described above) and he has NO foreign transaction fees. Neither of our banks give us hassle. Maybe the thing you're missing is using a CREDIT card?
BTW I wanted to post this, because I scoured the web everywhere and only found an older method which they patched.

 

I'm really glad you did post it, because that's what I noticed as well. Nobody has good ways to do this except the manual changing of location. I want to say that's the problem. I don't have a credit card yet and have just been rocking my debit card. Which appears to be the only issue (hopefully). Will let you know if it works in a little over a week when I get my card, lmao

 

Have you been able to find a way to get them in turkish lira btw? like 20 usd for 10 bonds.
