This story isn't directly related to WoW or Runescape, but applies to any MMO.

It's a fairly lengthy read, but a fantastic story. Please don't post if you haven't read the entire thing.

That was quite interesting to read. But, I think you must be REALLY addicted to a game to even quit your job to play a game? I mean, there are priorities and limits right?

Well, I think I don't have enough experience to say something about it, but I am really feeling sorry for Mike..

i really dont think theres anything like an addict,
i heard people say violance is away to see if ur a addict.
if ur angry when u lose a football game then your a bad loser but if ur angry when u lose a computer game then ur an computer addict.
and i dont think losing your job and your partner a bad thing unless you really want to be together with someone and if u really want to work, after all people live happy without a job or a partner and i just think its a stupid thing when everyone think they suceeded when they get a family and a good job people can be just as happy and just as good if they complete a video game if u think its bad to be a addict then its same thing as telling a black persons they rnt good becouse they are black.

I am just playing games and if I play more then 2 hours a day I get told I am an addict so I leave the computer. But this guy well I think there are many more of people like him let's just hope they stop too

 

Great find man, reminds me of times I used to play WoW all day. I wouldn't talk to anyone for periods of time. At school, WoW was on my mind. I wasn't the same person I used to be. Luckily I am able to game with moderation now.

 

This article is crazy, thanks for sharing. I'd probably be a gaming addict too if I didn't have such a short attention span. Most of the time I can't spend more than 4-5 hours on any given game without getting bored.

 

I use to be addicted to rs about a year ago..

I would stay up all night sometimes just to see the update to the game i remember when mobilizing armies came out i was one of the first people to be there... Once the summer came i stopped being such a gamer and just hung out with friends.. i still play rs but nothing more then a couple hours a day if that.

 

I was watching a documentary, about addictive gamers, and one guy killed himself due to something happening on everquest. true story.

 

awesome but sad story, so many people are like this. maybe not to this degree where they lose their cars/jobs, but definitely a boatload of money and friends.

im thankful i can play in moderation and not be so obsessed

 

Very good read, its not so bad now but last year, sitting at work all i would think about is what levels i wanted/needed to get to do my quests or to be succesful at pvp.
Until you read something like this you dont realise how bad you are yourself =/

I'm playing rs since 2002 and for about 3 years that is EXACTLY what happened to me to.
Luckily for me i realized what was happening and started to play less and less.
All i do nowadays is bot,i leave my bots and get on with my life.

It was a good read, I can relate to it to some degree, but I think I have my priorities straight so far. I have, in the past let down mates and sat down just to go and play RuneScape, but I've gotten better now and I play it for fun.
