old computer hard drive, into new computer

My old computer is a Hp pavillion and my new computer is Asus.
The Hp motherboard went up last month with my iTunes library on it($200+ in shit)
Can I just plug the Hp Hard drive into the extra wires inside my new Asus computer
and the reboot and select which Hard Drive to boot from?
So I can boot my old HD and burn back up CD's of my iTunes library.

I just don't want to kill my new computer.

That will work^^ the branding is really only the case. The main parts inside the PC's (HD, gFX card, etc) are in most cases other brands anyway, so hooking your old HD up is just fine.

First and foremost, ALWAYS have you computer fully unplugged from the wall when ever you mess with the insides. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, you can just connect the drive to the computer, assuming the proper cabling is present. Save your self time and effort, set the old drive to slave by changing the jumper. This will make the old drive show up in the computer as a second drive, just like a flash drive.

If you need help or are confused, don't be afraid to ask. PM me -Sixx

It depends how old the older computer is, it may be using an older connector, which won't work with the more modern SATA connections. I had this problem with my old computer.

I did it, thank you everybody, I thought it would never work but it did!
And I successfully got my entire iTunes Library from the old HD, plus lots of other shit.

    ~Thanks.
