Yes, that is true.. Each is trying to defend the country they live.. So therefore they are both heroes within the lands they inhabit.

If a soldier saves another soldier, his squad or a bunch of civillians hes a hero. If he defends his home country hes/shes a hero for his country. If a soldier is just a soldier than I don't thinks they are heros

 

I disagree, if they enlist and go into Iraq, Afghanistan or where ever they are stationed they are a hero in my book. I don't look at the killing, I look at how they stood up to defend the country they live, and those who die during this cause are lost but remain heroes.

No man or woman should gain public appeal because of killing, regardless. It's just wrong, and it shows how twisted our culture is.

 

You do realize that few if any soldiers actually get rewarded for killing people, it's all about saving lives. We aim for as little bloodshed as possible, unfortunately the world doesn't work that way.

 

I think you left a word out.

We treat soldiers like what they're doing is morally correct and there is no problem with ruthlessly and systematically killing off a population and destroying what they know as their nation. Look at Iraq.

They're simply doing what they think is best for their country. Since this is a case, then yes I believe that anyone kills for their country is a hero. Before your ridicule my statement, I'm not saying some radical who thinks murdering political leaders is in the best interest of the country. I'm talking about killing to prevent further bloodshed, which is exactly what we did in WWII. The world is run on violence, unfortunate as it is this is the reality of things. If someone threatens to invade your country you can't negotiate if they aren't willing, you need to take action whether or not it be humane.

Also, half of you don't even know what is going on in Iraq, and Afghanistan, you are just reading shit on the internet and listening to idiots. If you really want to know whats going on, get a friend that's been to Iraq. Heroes are different in everyones eyes, nobody has the same definition, and not every soldier has killed someone. Not every soldier is there to protect their country, some are just in it for the paychecks. But others actually do care, and that's why they are there.
