Best surround sound xbox 360 headset?

I bought my Triton for $116 from Best Buy because it was an open box discount. These do have a long wire connected but I like them because they are compatible with X360, PS3, and Computer.

 

My Turtle Beach X3 only has a cord going from the controller to the headset. Nothing going from the headset to the console. there is a receiver box you have to set up, but it won't get in the way of anything.

I'm serious unless you're trying to be SUPR SRS MLG PRO you won't notice that much of a difference between the X3s and something with 5.1.. You can still tell where a sound is coming from and hear footsteps (even in Halo).

 

Oh, I misunderstood. But yeah I want real surround sound thanks anyway for the opinions. Also.. the x3 probably won't have a good line-of-sight for the IF and the x31 uses RF so my router will cause interference like it would with the x41.


I just measured my xbox to my couch tonight and it's 11-12 feet. Hmm O_O I wonder if I'll have enough cord for the Tritton AX Pro.....

edit: and I don't even know what MLG is so... :laugh: (Halo 3 is over-rated)

 

Oh shit, you live in Jacksonville? I live like 25 minutes away LOL. Have you checked Best Buy for anything? Or somewhere else in the mall?

 

Yep in Jacksonville. I have not checked in stores anywhere but I've checked various places online to check in-store stock and nothing has turned up.

 

I currently have a TurtleBeach X1, and I love it. It is wired, but the wires are so long it might as well be wireless.

Pros:

• Broadcasts both game sounds and voice sounds through the headset
• Both sound levels can be changed to personal preference (IE game sounds full blast and no voice sounds)
• Amazing sound quality
• Added ability to use it as a computer headset as well as Xbox 360
• Very long cables for everything
• Only $60.00 from Best Buy

Cons:

• A little bulky
• The cords may get in the way

That's all the cons that I can think of. Overall I'm impressed with it.

 

But it's not surround sound! D=

 

How can a headset be surround sound? I'm confused. :S

are the main ones I'm looking at... I don't know of any others.

 

I got X1's their alight for what they are.

otherwise if you wan't anything better get the more expensive turtle beaches or trittons.. their your only options really....

 

I personally have Astros and they are great, only downside is that there are so many cables, which you didn't want. I'll link you to the best headset guide I've seen.

The best setup to date, is getting Turtle Beach HPX and buying the Astro Mixamp, just read the guide and ask on the forum, or me, if you have any questions...

 

That's a great guide, thanks a lot. It'll take me a while to read through all of it as I mainly want this for xbox 360 gaming.

(Oh, and I can live with cables because as far as I know there is not a wireless headset for the 360 that does not use 2.4ghz RF. I just need to make sure the cables are long enough )

 

I have the Astro A40 audio system (www.astrogaming.com) and I love it! The surround sound quality is great (Dolby Digitial 5.1). The only down side in my opinion is that it comes with SO many wires. You could buy the battery pack to eliminate one wire but its not worth it. These are the headset that most MLG players use. You will see these used by Players like T-squared and other pros

Get the X1 if you do because all the other wireless ones mean ull be running through batteries

 

Again, I want surround sound!


I'm going to go with the Tritton AX Pro and see how I like it.. The Astro A40 seems a bit too much for pretty much the same thing, but shorter cords and no optical cable.
