I have no idea how to. He was a serial scammer called Trent Thomas and I have no idea how to contact him. As far as I am aware, he is banned from Sythe on multiple accounts spanning well over a decade.

Happy to pay into the community repayment fund.

As you can see, this account was created prior to my ban. I've never tried to conduct any more business on Sythe since my ban. I have done two posts on this account since my ban - both were to leave vouches from swapping/buying GP. None of which would actually require an account here to do. My only motivation for leaving those posts was to provide feedback for a positive experience.

I suppose that in its self is technically ban evasion though, and I understand and appreciate if it is viewed as such.

Detailed description of the events that took place and why you think we should forgive you:

In 2017 I was trying to sell a pure on OSRS. I had previously had mixed success in selling accounts here and there, but was nonetheless working to establish myself as a trusted private seller - for a bit of a side gig.

I was contacted by someone called Trent Thomas under the alias of Bearded Oaf. We go to set up a trade, and he is banned quite literally as I send him a PM on Sythe. I obviously notice this, and find out why. He's Trent Thomas, who has been scamming people via this site for nearly 10 years at that point.

Now, he had originally asked to pay half the money upfront for the login details, he would then pay half the money a week or so later, at which point I would give him the rest of the info. That is a request I had never had at that point, and so alarm bells were ringing. I put two and two together, and come to the conclusion that he's attempting to sell my account on rather than give me the rest of the money. That would obviously leave me in an absolute mess of a situation. He scammed someone just 8 days prior to his attempt with me.

While deciding what to do, I'm reading threads like this, among others. I was unaware who this person was at the time, but having learned who they were, it immediately got my back up; I decide to anti-scam him. In all honestly, I did this to protect myself, and also as a bit of a 'fuck you' to him. Regardless, it was the wrong decision.

So I anti-scam him for 75m OSRS GP. I confront him about who he is, and then we go through the whole debacle linked above.

I never intended to keep the money, I messaged Meteor explaining what I had done prior to him ever posting that thread about me. I offered to pay the money back into the repayment fund.

Trent posted his thread on me on August 9th. I replied August 10th, and was banned August 11th. I messaged Champ(at least I think it was Champ) on Skype saying that I was aware of his PM but had been at a funeral August 11th. I never received a reply.

So now I'm banned. Kinda just shrugged my shoulders and thought whatever. In all honesty, my patience with Sythe users had been growing thin due to my experiences in the market place. It seemed like a good opportunity to wash my hands of this place. Again, that was the wrong decision - I should have just got in touch with someone, paid money into the fund, and gone about my business. Instead, here I am five years later.

I understand that it is not my place to be policing the users of this site, nor am I the white knight of it. Looking back, it was an absolute mess of a situation that I would now avoid like the plague. It is unnecessary BS and drama that is best left to the volunteers that run this site. I should have ceased contact with him when I saw him get banned mid-conversation. I would have undoubtedly sold the account to someone else like I had done with many others previously.

So please accept my apology for making you guys deal with that unnecessary BS at the time.

I'll also be the bigger man and apologise to Trent, because an eye for an eye solves nothing.

This thread will be reviewed and voted upon. I should demonstrate good character and will towards this site.

Whatever the outcome, I will accept without complaint, and potentially retry in six months.
